MANAGER in Germantown, MD

Manager Review
As a manager at the gym, my day typically consisted of making sure the gym was running smoothly, making calls to potential members to help get them memberships, helping members with equipment or exercises, and signing up people for memberships.

The one I worked at had a manager that really cared about how the customers are treated and worked hard to make everything function. It is unfortunate how the one I worked at had to close down due to losses from COVID-19.

The best part of my job is seeing all the wonderful members. It always feels like a family and home when I am working with a client or in class. I would totally recommend this is you love to be involved in helping others succeed in fitness.

You work solo so all the job expectations fall on the manager. Unable to trust the owner’s decisions and unable to trust contracted employees. The members are amazing and made the job enjoyable.
Personal Trainer in Romeoville, IL

Being a personal trainer/group fitness instructor is fun, and rewarding to know that you are helping people improve their health and overall lives. However, it can be exhausting to work around your clients' schedules. When people are getting off work to go home and see their families, you're waiting at the gym to train your clients. When people are hitting snooze on their alarms, you're already at the gym training someone who is only available in the mornings. Weekends? Work. Holidays? Clients will think since they're free, they can schedule a session/class. If you don't prioritize your work-life balance, you'll burn out fast. Management will try to get you to take more and more clients, not to mention all of the unpaid time spent writing programs, checkpoints, and clients messaging you when you're not in the gym.

Interview Questions

It was extremely casual. They truly only asked me why I wanted the position. The rest of the time they were trying to sell me on them.
