12 hour shifts, alternating 36 and 48 hour work weeks. Standard for EMS. Frequent unnecessary late calls. This is a service that has no primary 911 contracts, therefore does very few emergency calls. Instead specializes in scheduled transfers between facilities. While late-calls can sometimes not be avoided (as in emergency situations), they can definitely be avoided in non-emergency scheduled transfers. Dispatcher still had no consideration for off-going crews and played lots of favoritism. Those who were not favorites were punished frequently. Late calls were frequently very mundane, such as psych transfers and transfers back to nursing homes for patients who were discharged from ED.
