Helping the patients was such a pleasure.
Liaison between pharmacy and patient (Former Employee) –  New York, NYMarch 25, 2019
Starting with daily catch up and informing meetings.
Bringing all the teams together to help patients all around. My co-workers were extremely friendly and helpful.
Pros
supporting the HIV, Aids, LGBT community
Cons
Limited help for patients in need outside of center's efforts.

Generous Benefits but Everything else is bad
Anoyomous (Former Employee) –  New York, NYDecember 30, 2018
Too much stress involved and turnovers since 2017. Upper management doesn’t care what’s going on in this work place. I didn’t learn that much cause management failed to update information to their staffs Also there’s lots of backstabbing and betrayal involved in Co-workers and management. Look else where if you don’t want to suffer like I did.

Staff are great but management is unorganized and unprofessional. They use their power over their staff to look good, not for the benefit of the staff.

Do not work here unless you like to feel belittled and unappreciated
Anonymous (Former Employee) –  New York, NYSeptember 29, 2018
The work environment is an open space and depending on which department you work in and whose your supervisor is , makes the difference here. The coworkers are nice but the upper managers have poor communication and people skills, especially in the Health Homes Program. They blame staff for mistakes and things that go wrong, yet they don't train their staff well. Their best skills are bullying and finding faults of their staff or others, but themselves. Meanwhile, they need to look at themselves in the mirror. Also, upper management does not appreciate staff and micromanages them. The lower supervisors ( CMTLs) in the Health Homes are afraid to lose their jobs so they act like sycophants to their boss.
Pros
Nice Coworkers

The truth is, the should be reported. The things that go on there, but no one does because they are afraid. Management does not know how to talk to people and I WAS management. When the one teaching you fails, then you fail

After they fired the CMO who made the place famous for great care, it took 9 months to find a new one. 6 weeks later the new CMO walks out and never came back, It is THAT BAD!
Pros
The people doing the actual work are great

I would recommend and encourage a friend to work for APICHA community health center. The staff is generally a great team and there is little to no complaints

Great mission statement , poor management
Care Manager (Current Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 4, 2017
A typical day at work includes being on the field and constantly chasing and/or cleaning up new requirements as set by the state. Management does not have any leadership skills and does not know how to manage staff. Love the people that work there and the mission statement it stands for.

Patient Navigator (Current Employee) –  New York, NYSeptember 22, 2017
Working here should NOT be the only place you work. Apicha is a place where start but not a place to grow. Management does not know how to provide a platform for workers to excel. The clients are in need and the one reason I could see someone wanting to continue working in this type of environment
Pros
The clients, Some of the colleagues are supportive

Program Coordinator/Case Manager/Team Leader (Current Employee) –  New York, NYSeptember 18, 2017
Needs to really invest in their talent. People talk about leaving all the time. Complains that the leadership is not strong. Lack of organization, no consistent performance reviews and/or advancement opportunities. Money hungry for contract payouts forces leadership to impose front line staff violate compliance. No training in place.
Cons
30 mins lunches, no overtime, lack of support from leadership, unreasonable time off request policies

Trans Clinic Patient Navigator (Current Employee) –  New York, NYJune 14, 2017
Working here can be very rewarding. The clients are one of the only things that would keep you here. There is no support for the workers. People here are fairly opened but not experienced in working with "otherized" individuals. The providers are amazing to work with and make the job easier.

Care Manager (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMarch 1, 2016
First being hired it sounded so lovely, job security, great pay...False this haelth home prgram is going down hill, and medicaid fraud all over..I would never do non profit again, unless it is legit. Watch out for the clinical supervisor she is the upper managements pawn..There is no bargaining with them or say so as an employee, you get written up for everything, and work is overwhelming and unrealistic just to prove to health homes they are just now running the program..If you want to belittled then take it if not trust me, case management jobs offer more than apicha.

Care Manager (Former Employee) –  400 Broadway NY NYDecember 15, 2015
Management treat staff very poorly. Your time and feelings are not taken into consideration. Your a slave in this agency. You find yourself working longer than your suppose to. Staff are given write ups every single month for whatever else management wants to state your doing wrong. Worst job I've ever had in my life, no professionalism, management gossips and look the other way no proper training
Pros
Working with the clients
Cons
High case load, mistreatment from management, overworked not respected no team work no communication.

Productive, cooperative, helpful and friendly
Patient Assistant (Current Employee) –  New York, NYJune 9, 2014
- always on the go
- learned many new things especially in medical side and attended different trainings conducted by one of the supervisors within our department
- management is tough
- co-workers are friendly and helpful
- hardest part is meeting the deadlines that involves many bosses, sometimes I don't know which comes first
- the most enjoyable part of the job is sometimes we crack jokes among co-workers to break the seriousness of the work.
Pros
free coffee
Cons
short breaks
