Not Good
Enterprise Customer Success Advisor (Current Employee) –  Morrisville, NCJune 14, 2018
Steer clear. No typical day. Way too many fire drills. Learned to do better research on companies I intend to join. Management very weak. Lots of going through the motions on reports and meetings with little real progress. Not good.

Apptio is a maturing startup. They hire a lot of people based off of referrals (basically hire people that are just like them). Their view on diversity is primarily based on gender. There can be areas of improvement when it comes to cross functional communication and product knowledge/ development.

If you like a challenge work here. If you like to conform to norms and enjoy being part of the "bro" crew, then Apptio is a great place to work.

All stick, no carrot
Director (Current Employee) –  United StatesMarch 12, 2018
Pressure-cooker environment, not much regard for people. I've seen them fire people for any reason or no reason at all. This includes dumping people right before their retention bonus is due. Questionable business ethics overall, juvenile leadership likes to drop f-bombs in front of the whole company then laugh like they are in grade school. Great technology but growth is stalling because the board hasn't replaced the leadership. The current crew has taken it as far as they are capable of, time to shake it up.
Pros
Top company for what they do
Cons
Bad culture, cut-throat environment, questionable ethics. Benefits are lacking; no 401K match despite promises

Fun place to work
Application Engineer II (Current Employee) –  Bellevue, WAApril 3, 2017
Fun place to work on a exciting business proposition. Workplace culture is very laid back and still some-what of a startup feel. great work-life balance, healthcare and time off policies. location in Bellevue is good as well.

TSA- TECHNICAL SYSTEMS ANNILYST (Former Employee) –  Bellevue, WAJune 6, 2016
Overall great company if your lucky enough to be a Core employee. Not as Great if your a contractor. Still good company though the contractors are often left out of office activities. Contractors also have absolutely no Job Security, even if you signed a contract, you can be laid off without warning for no other reason than the CEO decided that to lay off contractors because of cost.
Pros
Free food, Fun work environment, free work laptop, great benefits
Cons
No Job Security

It was a pleasant place to work.
Technical Support Analyst (Current Employee) –  Bellevue, WAMay 14, 2016
I enjoy the challenges, I wish it could have lead into a secure job. I had a personality mesh with one employee, as to how you would talk to a person, professionally, without being judgmental.

Good people but product still needs to mature.
Technology Business Management Consultant (Current Employee) –  Bellevue, WAMay 2, 2013
Based on my experience within the Customer Success department, management needs to assure that employees are not overworked or burned out on engagements where client expectations have been set high whereby the product has its limitations or not enough resources are available. Also, the Apptio product itself is very complex and buggy, making client implementation a challenge. However, peers are helpful and there "when needed" (Team Leads are at their workload capacity and have little time).
Pros
Great people
Cons
Product needs to be refined, Pay for consultants is not competitive.
