I have worked at several places over my career and for the most part this is one of the least stress positions I have had. There is some weekend and off hours work but it goes with the job type.
Could get better pay and benefits elsewhere.
Management oversells the plant, and then puts it squarely on the backs of the employees to sell off their rights to have any weekends or any kind of life for that matter. Several employees suffer from “burnout”, and have endured this work regimen for so long that they wouldn’t know what to do without Arcelormittal’s everyday intrusion into their lives. The job just keeps coming at you, nonstop! Management expects tenured employees to “break in” other employees on various jobs, assigning them one more duty to their already tedious, exhausting workload. The training that you receive from your fellow employees is subpar to say the least; it’s not even ample at best. Then again, it’s hard to take direction from an individual who puts little to no effort into explaining what the job entails, all while berating and belittling you for making a mistake as they sit totally engrossed in social media or whatever other entertainment their phone is providing. Pay and benefits are good however, the trade off is the constant intrusion of your job, in your life literally, everyday. The Union there is absolutely useless; they choose to play patty cake with the company, constantly making one concession after another. Plenty of overtime available, if you want to add to your bank account and your nonexistent life to be able to enjoy any of your efforts.
Pay and benefits
Absolutely no work life balance, bid job or not!
The safety / training culture was diminishing. Personally feel the company needs to go back to the apprenticeship style of onboarding both hourly and salaried employees. Its a dangerous place and poor training leads to injuries and deaths.
Opportunities for salary to make ST OT
Horrible schedule and no raises for the mid level/front line managers
Good job great Benefits and good pay but not sure of reliability with war against coal and gas but all and all a great place to work. Bosses are mostly good and pretty laid back on all shifts except day shift to many chiefs running around on day shift and sometimes you got several bosses telling you somthing different!!

Dupont schedule good money
Pretty much everything else
The interaction between management and employees are great. I really enjoy working there. The benefits have been fair in this society and it allows me to take care of my family
A lot of overtime most of time. Very wiell paid .and very good insurance they offer and a good 401 K . most jobs are very easy learned. Over Al it is a very good place to work the only thing I wish I would had done is to start sooner then I did. Last thing is if a person would like to get skill training it would go places to get it free . The only downside that I have ,some jobs are very dirty a lot of lifting and very hot . But I would still says that it's the best place I have ever worked...
Working a lot of overtime
No job security. I've worked here for 6 years and have been laid off twice. The stupidity of management is seriously indescribable. The union is so weak you would think that right to work was established in Ohio.
Good but expensive insurance
Plenty of hard labor to be done here, although pay and health care benefits are excellent. Unfortunately, the management often does not have the experience or understanding of the jobs performed throughout the plant to manage them effectively. Suggestions are met with resistance, change is extremely slow, safety is not the main concern.
pay, pay, and pay
mostly awful working conditions
You can get called into work at any time. You are expected to work until the job is done. They do pay OT or you can take time comp for working over, but you always have to be there.
Overtime pay for salaried personnel
Have to work many hours. Very stressful. Management has unrealistic goals, but wont listen when you tell them this.
If you enjoy snakes, backstabbing, union whiners, lazy & entitled employees, this is right for you. Worked at this hole for a few months. Co-workers complained about me making noise when they were trying to sleep on night shift. Not a bad place entirely, just depends on where they place you. You can't have a casual conversation with any foreman because of the union brothers who will slit your throat. Ridiculous really.
Loved working there, management wasn’t the greatest and there was a lot of behind the scenes buddy buddy stuff, but for the most part it was fair, the company paid well and offered great benefits.
Pay, benefits, culture
Management, grudges, general steel industry lay offs
