Teamwork makes the dream work
Solvent Extraction operator (Former Employee) – Red Wing, MN – December 28, 2018
ADM-Red Wing, is a smaller plant compared to others, so it had it shortfalls. Foreman are company, plant workers are union, so you are stuck in one or the other.
They pay very well, but it is rotating shift work 24/7 365, so it can take some time to get used to.
Time off is limited, your first couple years you get 2 weeks, no sick time.
If you are on a good crew, everything is like family, and runs like clockwork, if you have a poor foreman or plant worker on your crew, it can be a toxic and miserable place to work.
It is hot in the summer, cold in the winter, in the summer/fall you do a lot of confined space entry, and get super dirty cleaning the equipment.
pay, snacks and meals from time to time, union= something of a raise per year
shift work, holidays, some managers shouldnt be managers
