There is a reason they always need help!
Group Leader (Former Employee) –  Bettendorf, IAJanuary 3, 2019
Treat management like garbage and hourly treat each other the same. Place won’t be open long if people don’t decide to work. They spend more time saying that’s not my job or looking for ways not to work then they do working. If you help out they will work you into the ground instead of asking or getting someone to help you.
Pros
It’s Union they won’t fire you.
Cons
It’s Union they won’t fire the bad workers

Automation and Robotic repairs and troubleshooting
Engineering Technician (Current Employee) –  Barberton, OHOctober 30, 2018
We would repair defective equipment, touch-up robotic programs and assist Maintenance personnel when needed. I learned mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, welding, controls, PLC's, panel building and other Automation skills. My direct manager was good however, there is more management than what is necessary in my opinion company wide. The workers are good to work with though, and the pace is usually busy. The hardest part of the job is the hours (weekends). The most enjoyable part was learning the trade and my co-workers.
Pros
Workers
Cons
Weekend hours

Politics, Dictatorship, Blind Management
Scientist (Former Employee) –  New Kensington, PAOctober 26, 2018
Analytical Sciences Department at ATC - middle and upper Management is extremely extremely poor. They only listen to who they want to listen to. They play their key people and only listen to them. You will go absolutely nowhere unless you are a tool, back stab and volunteer for everything but your actual job. Nevermind the stock price, this place is being run into the ground by management alone. Extremely manipulative, dictatorship, oblivious and poor judgment- all traits of current Management. It is a shame that the higher upper Management does not see this. People are quitting this place in droves every week.

Expected to do whatever it takes to make production quotas, even break safety rules, but if anything happens you will suffer! Management doesn't care
I work here! (Current Employee) –  Whitehall, MIOctober 19, 2018
Managers are moved from place to place as they get into trouble. Nobody is held accountable except union employees. You are expected to break the rules to get production out, but if you get hurt you will be punished.

You can get the same money elsewhere without the stress and destroying your body.
Pros
Some workers are nice and honest.
Cons
Very bad work atmosphere, managers expect you to break the rules to get production out, get written up if you sneeze.

Management is a real drag
Maintenance Technician (Current Employee) –  Barberton, OHOctober 17, 2018
This company really does not care about the employees and family like they claim. They will do what they have to to get the production numbers met. No one in management or HR will help you, and the only people in your corner are the other workers. Its in unfortunate after 5+ years at a company to have to leave because I cannot do midnights anymore and they are not willing to put me on 1st, but will hire contractors for it instead.
Pros
Easy way to make money
Cons
No life outside of work, extreme hot and cold, management

Recommend for the paycheck but not the benefit package for a global company
Maintenance (Current Employee) –  Barberton, OHOctober 23, 2018
Typical day in maintenance is doing reactive work on machines. There is a pm team that is not supported by upper management and is basically considered a joke. Current maintenance supervisor are supportive but that changes yearly. Can be stressful when the problem can not be fixed logically due to previous undocumented temporary patches on machines-programs-wiring. Production back to running as quickly as possible. Currently 13 days working and 1 day off, so zero home life. The co-workers make the days better and the administrative secretary who makes company events festive.
Pros
Paycheck, coworkers, great for work-alcoholics
Cons
Bad upper management, bad for family life, too many mandatory hours

Arconic is Waco is a racially biased company
Processing Tech 1 (Former Employee) –  WacoNovember 8, 2018
The female supervisor is clueless and allows the day shift shipping coordinator to belittle, harrass, and stalk any shipping employee he dislikes. They both allow select employees leniency with workload distribution. Working in Waco shipping for their management is career suicide.

Work Overload
Project Management (Current Employee) –  OhioDecember 26, 2018
Good company, however needs to change up the culture and management. If given the option they will make you work 24/7. To many responsibilities assigned to a single person; not enough people to take on the responsibility.
Pros
Good benefits, diverse work environment, job security
Cons
poor management, old school culture, no work/life balance

Job pays great. Decent advancement if they like you
Skilled Tradesman (Current Employee) –  Cleveland, OHOctober 12, 2018
Arconic doesn’t mind paying you but you have to put in the time for the money. The company and the UAW union there are EXTREMELY racist towards blacks and try hard to cover it up. Terrible place for minorities to work comfortably.
Pros
Good pay and decent benefits
Cons
No pension and major discrimination against African Americans

Forge Operator (Former Employee) –  Midway, GASeptember 9, 2018
Management constantly changes at this facility. Just when progress starts to happen management changes and everything starts over again. Maintenance does not accept responsibility or ownership of the problems with the facility or equipment. HR and EH&S are the worst I have seen in 28 years.
Pros
Don't track breaks if you are a favorite
Cons

There's no SOP for supervision. Procedures change every other week. too many meetings that accomplish nothing. Safety is a joke- Employees are injured every day.

Quality is a joke. Attendance is a joke- half of the employees have FMLA's in place and abuse them.

Press Operator (Former Employee) –  Morristown, TNJanuary 7, 2019
Benefits are good, especially if you have a family. Some co-workers are great to work with, others not as much just like any place. The real issue Arconic has is terrible management from the top down, they truly need to consider a total rehaul.

Wax Injector/ Promotion to teamleader (Former Employee) –  Hampton, VAAugust 22, 2018
The department I was in was fast paced . Co-workers for the most part easy to work with. The company changed all the time you had to be ready to learn something different at any moment. The company used to be good to work for 20 years ago but as time went on it got worse and worse.
Pros

Love/hate
Cell operator (Former Employee) –  Morristown, TNAugust 2, 2018
I loved my job, but too much harassment by employees. Majority of employees watch each other then go tell how many times went to bathroom and for how long. How long you was on break, etc. Employees would make up stuff on others just to get them in trouble. The older women we're the worst. They were cut throats that would love u to your face then turn on you. The worst part was that managment wouldn't do anything about it and wouldn't even listen to both sides. I saw many many people come and go because of this. I began to hate it because of the way people we're treated. If management would be stricter on tatling and trouble m a king it would be a great place to work.
Pros
Paid for lunch

Breaks are short

The people there were great to work with.
Laboratory Technician (Former Employee) –  Washington, MOAugust 14, 2018
Management is awful, there is no room for advancement. They would rather hire outside the company than to promote qualified employees. There are great people working in this company that never get the chance to excel or move forward. There seems to be a constant power struggle between production and quality. Overtime is crazy and mandatory.
