Great People
Transportation Analyst (Former Employee) –  Lancaster, PAApril 2, 2019
People:
The staff employed by AFI were some of the best people I've ever had the pleasure to work with every day. It was a laid back atmosphere with little to no drama. Most people were not easily offended, joked a bit, and went about their business. The people were the shining light of the company. That accounts for both workers and management.

Management:
Very lean. This job is definitely best for someone who is great at working independently, or with peers, with little supervision. That worked great for me as I was empowered to make many different types of decisions.

Work:
Too much work, too little people. Management was lean, but so was the workforce. Crazy amounts of work was expected of the workforce as well as the mid-level managers. Executives were very out of touch with both mid-level managers as well as the workforce so it really brought us and management together in opposition of the executives. All this is not to say the execs were bad people; they weren't. They just were so busy running the business that they were out of touch with what was actually happening.

Overall, it was a good, enriching experience for me working there.
Pros
freedom to take breaks/lunch whenever you want. No time clock.
Cons
benefits were lacking, too much work not enough people

Poor Management
Research Scientist (Current Employee) –  Lancaster, PAMarch 24, 2019
I felt the culture was great. The people are awesome and you feel like everyone is there to help each other. However, upper management was terrible at making decisions ultimately leading to the failure of the company.

Management doesn't know how to run a company
Manager (Former Employee) –  Lancaster, PAJanuary 7, 2019
Constant restructuring and massive layoffs every six months. Selling the company off in chunks. Won't be around in a couple of years. CEO was brought in to divest the company over five years. Senior Executives only care about getting their bonuses at the expense of firing employees every six months.

finish line
Production associate (Current Employee) –  Somerset, KYDecember 26, 2018
finish line is typically 8 hrs/m-f. with 20 minute paid lunch breaks
veneer mill is 12 hour shifts with a 30 minute off the clock lunch break and a 10 minute break every 2 hours. mill is very loud and dirty. Glue spread people will come home with glue with all over them. There doesn't seem to be any way around that.

they have been dividing the company up and selling it for the past 3 years
Director/Sr. Manager Merchandising (Former Employee) –  Lancaster, PADecember 11, 2018
The culture is such that they rely on the pas and don't want to innovate or lead. They have lost so much market share, they have had to sell of product families and factories to stay a float. They will be completely dissolved in 2 years time
Cons
short sighted, looking in the rear view mirror, slow to change, stubborn
