Not generally a long process depending on how quickly the position needs to be filled. Time really varies. I have friends that work for AAFES in different states and know for one friend it took her a few weeks until she got called. Below is my experience.
-Apply online and same day email notification.
-Call from hiring manager 2-3 business days after applying to come in for an interview.
-Scheduled for an interview (next day)
-Same day of interview (couple of hours later) HR Manager offered me the job and I accepted. Scheduled me to come in for paperwork and also orientation.
-Next week went in and completed paperwork. Couple days later had Orientation and started working same week.

All in all, took about 2 weeks for the whole process.

The work environment was relaxed, where managers and supervisors cared about employees and treated them as part of a team, and willing to help them move up with the company.
