A good company to grow with
Sales Technician (Former Employee) - Orlando, FL - July 12, 2018
Featured review
ARS/Rescue Rooter selected this as a representative reviewThis company has given me plenty of opportunity, in an industry I would've never even considered. I love the fact that you can quickly move up the company ladder with the right work ethic. I've worked my way up from one of the lowest paid positions to one of the highest, in a 3 year duration. Long hours in the field as a technician, but rewarding money and knowledge. Long hours in the field as an outside sales rep, but rewarding money and meaningful customer interaction. This job is what you make it out to be. If you are interested in the HVAC industry, this company will provide you stability and security. As Home Depots nationwide Heating and Cooling contractor, you will always have a job.
Pros
Room for advancement, pay, benefits
Cons
Long hours

Comfort Advisor (Current Employee) - Sanford, FL - November 23, 2023
You get good leads when your doing well. If you fall behind at all, you will not get many leads and the ones you get are bottom of the barrel. The price of our services keep going up and the commission rate does not, even though we were told it would.
Pros
Company vehicle
Cons
Very long hours

Delivering was fun, but the safety director was a big challenge
Seasonal Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Austin, TX - November 11, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Normal hours , 5 days per week What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Driving an old van with worn shocks & suspension on poorly maintained roads & setting off the tattletale to the safety director false reports What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Fast paced , most of the workers could barley speak English What is a typical day like for you at the company? Check in early, help load the vans, then wait to deliver emergency supplies to various areas to the guys in the field,

Too many techs, too few jobs. Management has their head in the clouds
HVAC Service Technician (Former Employee) - Fredericksburg, VA - November 10, 2023
They hired me and a few other techs all at once to do the lower skilled jobs while their more experienced techs worked the harder jobs. Kept saying that everyone would have jobs to do every day. Yet they were sending said experienced techs, along with us, with sub 40 and many sub 30 hour work weeks. And you never knew what jobs you had until you came in that day... Meanwhile UPPER management kept dropping coercive hints to give them all 5 stars... One person sees dollar signs and messes it up for everyone... My direct manager was a good guy and most employees were good people too. Even the HR person was awesome and friendly! If I had the hours, I would have most likely loved to work there.

Be prepared for the interview in 24 Hours fast food restaurant at 3 a.m.
HVAC Installer/Technician (Former Employee) - Itasca, IL - November 9, 2023
You need to be prepared for an interview in unusual remote places in hours when normal people are sleeping. It is so scary and it gives you an impression of walking into a trap ( a setup). Very strange behavior of management of this company scares you and they treat you like a potential criminal.

Poor Work Life Balance
Comfort Advisor (Former Employee) - Florida - November 3, 2023
CA's in the Florida area are expected to be on call from sun up to sun down. Leads are poorly qualified and prices are 60-70% higher than the competition in most of the Florida market leading to high discounts and low commissions. Exactly what ARS wants as they don't have to pay their labor that way. Almost no opportunity for growth within the company.

Upsale, sell, sell, sell and sell....did I say sell? Yea upscale company.
Senior HVAC Technician (Former Employee) - Manassas, VA - October 31, 2023
It's all about generating revenue, managers put pressure on the techs/installers to sell, sell, sell to get that quarterly bonus, this is a upscale company that would rather teach you how to finesse a conversation than to give creditable mechanical knowledge to those who are just getting into the trade. Weekly meetings focus on increasing sales, not knowledge. I feel that it is Injustice to the employees and homeowners. Stay far away from the corruption.
Pros
Not many to mention
Cons
Forget about your home life as well as a consistent work week

Time Management
Comfort Advisor (Current Employee) - Lorton, VA - October 22, 2023
You can make really good money during the busy summer months but they give good leads to specific Comfort Advisors. 10-12 hours a day in a car and leads are not qualified before you arrive. Promote FREE QUOTES but push table day of sales.

Jobs at ARS/Rescue Rooter
Great place to work
HVAC Installer (Current Employee) - Cutler Bay, FL - October 18, 2023
I love working at ars the staff is super cool. If you like to do things the correct way you shouldnt have no proble. We would do a lot of residential installs in the summer like you are literally always working so if your tryna make some cash the summer is a great time to start. During the slow season is super dead and hard to make money but overall is a great company to work in. Uniform 401k health and dental insurance Aflac
Pros
Comisson pay. Staff treats you like family
Cons
Personal and work life balance

They layed us off after a year with no notice. They made promises they did not keep.
Digital Lead Coordinator (Current Employee) - Houston, TX - October 17, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? There was no best part. The company built us up to let us down. It was good to have employment for the time that I did have it. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? They micro manage you and always change the policies and rules. Managers changed and promises were never kept. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It was a very stressful work environment when I was in the office. The drama continued while working remote as well.

About the money
Head plumbing and HVAC backup dispatcher (Former Employee) - Omaha, NE - October 13, 2023
Do 5 departments worth of work. Management only cares about themselves and lie. I learned how to dispatch. It's about the money and calls ran employees come last. Nothing hard about the job. Some of the employees were great to work with before they were forced out of their job. The technicians are amazing even though they get dragged through the dirt. Stay quiet and to yourself gossip central. It's high school drama if you don't.
Pros
Always busy
Cons
Management micromanaging

Comfort Advisor (Former Employee) - Myrtle Beach, SC - September 27, 2023
Nice place to work and nice people to work with. Fast paced. Good pay. They do tend to favor specific sales people and give them the best leads. Company vehicle, lab top and phone

Do not work for ARS
Dispatcher (Current Employee) - Corona, CA - September 26, 2023
This company will terminate you with no reason and then lie about why to get you to sign separation agreement. Not a good company at all. This company is not good for long term.
Pros
None
Cons
Don’t work at ARS if a future is important to you.

Great benifits but the corporation is broken. They are changing systems and policies to meet their needs not the associates.
Electrical Technician (Current Employee) - Myrtle Beach, SC - September 22, 2023
Some great people working there but the company it self is broken. They change systems and policies often. Even if you are in the right they will say you are wrong. Management hides behind the company. Not a company inwould work for as a long term career. There is zero job security. ARS also has some the the highest prices and most technicians do not do their work to code.
Pros
Great Benifits
Cons
Wrong information is communicated daily. No one takes responsibility and they tellnyou half truths.

Great weekly pay
Comfort Advisor (Former Employee) - Norcross, GA - September 21, 2023
Great Company. Super long hours and lots of driving across the whole state of GA. If you need money, be prepared to be out of your home for 14 hours a day.

Fast pace
Plumbing (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - September 7, 2023
There are good people there. Lack of professionalism in dispatch department at times and difficult to reach revenue requirements set by upper management unless they allow their prices to be more competitive.
