Best job i've ever had
Account Manager (Current Employee) - Chicago, IL - October 11, 2018
I've been at Artisan for over 2 years now. At Artisan there is a great culture of colleagues willing to help you achieve your goals with teamwork and collaboration. They will make you put in the work, but it makes the rewards here that much better. They have clear KPI's that they lay out upfront and suggestions for how any you can get there. However, at the end of the day, they trust you to know how you work best, and if you have a better way of doing it, they are all ears. If you ever need support here, all you have to do is ask.

Relaxed work environment with people who love to laugh
Office Manager (Current Employee) - Chicago, IL - October 11, 2018
I have only been apart of the Artisan Talent team for 3 months. So far the work environment has surpassed all previous roles I've had. I truly feel this is a family environment, rather than a place to just punch the clock.
The workplace culture is one of collaboration. Everyone strives to make sure each person is excelling at their roles and has the tools they need to complete their duties.
This goes for the external talent Artisan places as well. Artisan strives to make sure each talent has the tools that make them stand out so they are able to be picked by a client quickly and satisfactory.
Pros
Collaboration, workplace culture, laughter
Cons
It's cold in the office! Ha!

Freelancer through Artisan, I think they're great
Freelance Proofreader (Current Employee) - New York, NY - February 28, 2018
So far communications are excellent. I have found at some other places, directions aren't always clear and e-mails aren't thorough. Been very happy with the attitude and energy of the people at Artisan!

Freelancer AND Freelance Staff Member
Social Media Strategist (Current Employee) - Chicago, IL - August 28, 2017
I've worked on "both sides of the coin" at Artisan - I've been placed on freelance assignments by them with some great medium sized companies and have worked as a member of the internal team.
Their pay rates are competitive, and while they get less jobs in the Copywriter/Social Media space than some of their competitors, the jobs they do get are at a much higher pay rate. They do offer benefits (if you qualify starting at 1,000 hours/year) and host a holiday party for some of their working talent every year. It's nice to feel included in these things as a freelancer.
As an internal employee, they are striving to be a "boutique" staffing agency and are definitely small but mighty. The people they hire are easy to get along with and you can tell the CEO cares a lot about his people. The Chicago office does a great job at celebrating office wins, anniversaries, birthdays, etc. They are also very open to flex hours/remote work/offsite for some positions too.
Pros
Remote work, inclusive and caring, occasional free lunches/group happy hours, West Loop office location.
Cons
Not dog friendly, lack of promotion opportunities (as with any small company)

Todays Recruiters
SR Designer (Former Employee) - Clearwater, FL - July 17, 2017
It's just a fact in the industry that the recruiter role has changed.
more of them, shotgun approach and not really REAL positions.
and a new recruiter all the time, and different companies calling about the same position, Not a Artisan real jobs, real people and really care!
Pros
National Acounts
Cons
Limited areas

Freelance Front End Developer (Current Employee) - Chicago - July 10, 2017
Even as an off-site freelancer, the Reps at Artisan are always on the lookout for gigs for me and get me something even when I am not looking! There're all super chill and sweet so there hasn't beena any drama at all. The whole staff is welcoming and considerate of their talent.

Culturally unpleasant
Office Manager/Coordinator/Administrator (Former Employee) - Chicago, IL - March 8, 2017
More concerned with look of things than of function. Disconnected and lack of actual management, not aware of staff responsibilities. Very negative experience.

Happy Camper
Account Manager (Current Employee) - San Francisco - September 11, 2015
Usually the market leader in the cities/regions it competes. Great company culture which supports its employees and gives them the tools and training in order to succeed. Definitely a place slanted towards "people persons", as a result most collegues are very interesting and enjoyable to interact with. One of the best places i have ever worked at! :)
Pros
Positive, nurturing environment, colleagues are helpful and no politics
Cons
Must be able to network and get out of your comfort zone, if you are shy this is not a place to work

Productive and Fun Workplace with Ping Pong, Foosball, and Pool Table
Sr. Customer Application Engineer (Former Employee) - San Diego, CA - October 10, 2013
A typical day at work includes going to the office, enjoying free drinks (i.e coffee, water, Gatorade) and having breakfast while checking e-mail and the days tasks.
I learned Verification, Customer Application and Product Specs.
Management was hands off and allowed me to complete tasks and execute as planned.
My coworkers were enthusiastic about work and made the work place fun!
The hardest part of the job was managing time. There was always exciting work to do and a lot of it. So you wanted to accomplish so much in one day, but the day would go by very quickly and before you know it, it's time to go home. And you want to give it an extra 10 minutes and then you've been there an extra hour.
The most enjoyable part of the job is the culture. Co-workers did take breaks to enjoy playing Ping Pong or Pool or Foosball.
Pros
Flexible hours. Lots of work!
Cons
Short breaks
