Company boasts its superiority but don’t care about their employees
Patient Service Representative II (Former Employee) –  Medford, ORSeptember 6, 2019
This company likes to advertise and boast about their superior medical care and practices, especially their cardiac care. “Now go have a heart attack!” said one of the full-of-himself presenters during orientation. That’s not a joking matter, but what was was having a break room without eating utensils or anything. Just an empty room with a table and chairs. No water or coffee for the patients in the lobbies, and management does not care for you. At all. You will be lucky if they remember your name. Cafeteria took away employee discounts and senior discounts for patients. This company is all corporate run. The truth has been spoken.

Patient Account Representative/3 departments (Current Employee) –  Medford, ORMay 14, 2019
Great place to work. Ever changing. Unfortunately it only takes a couple of new poor manager/supervisors to bring toxicity to a team . Other departments may not have this same experience.

Uncomfortable and hostile environment
Employee (Former Employee) –  Medford, ORApril 18, 2019
Poor management skills, very Bias and talk bad about and to employees which made the working environment very uncomfortable! Management should be taught Asante’s Values and abide by them. The most enjoyable part of the job was the patients, that’s what made me come to work every day.
Pros
Caring for patients
Cons
Low pay and Condescending management

Surgical Aide (Former Employee) –  Medford, ORApril 8, 2019
I did not enjoy working there for the most part. I thought the culture was toxic, as many people were very unhappy with their jobs. The management were bullies and had no morals in regards to the feelings of the employees. They know that their employees do not have many options for work in Medford, so the management treats their employees with no respect. I highly recommend working somewhere else.

Certified Nurses Assistant 2/Unit Secretary (Former Employee) –  Medford, ORMarch 28, 2019
I loved the people I worked with but hated the micromanaging I was forced to endure. Not willing to give you the time off you need unless you ask for it 6-12 months in advance. Pay was great.

Great at the beginning but vision was lost
Certified Medical Assistant (Former Employee) –  Grants Pass, ORMarch 19, 2019
I was a senior staff member but not that it mattered to management. When I started the clinic was very patient centered and we were given room to find ways to improve workflows and incentive to go the extra mile. With multiple changes in management the working staff no longer had advocate or voice in anything. Any concerns were brushed off by our current management. It slowly became a paycheck. No longer was it about our patients as was boasted constantly but how we could make our management look better to administration. Training for the job was laughable and has a sink or swim mentality. Roles were removed from our clinic saying they were no longer going to have them company wide only to find out the other clinics had them in place year later with no intention of them having those removed.
Favouritism runs high. If they don't like you they will write you up while commiting the same infraction themselves.
Pros
Benefits are stable for the most part
Cons
Management is severely lacking, no opportunity to move up of management doesn't want you to.

Executives and managers too focused on personal advancement and avoiding blame and not focused on employees or customers. Too much infighting between business units.

Poor Management
Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) –  Medford, ORNovember 29, 2018
If you come here to advance forget it. No matter how much experience you have you are treated like you know nothing unless you are one of the favorites. They do not utilize your knowledge. Don't say anything bad on a survey about your manage because they will find out who wrote it and retaliate, HR will do nothing to help you out. They will give some a 3% raise but their favorites will get a much larger raise. Upper management and executives could care a less about you unless you work at the clinic or hospital. They throw you into a building with no sunlight and no fresh air and tell you, you are not allowed to have a plant at your desk and you are micro managed. Basically you are nothing but a number to them unless you have an advanced degree or PhD.
Management has their favorites and they get special treatment while others are treated with contempt.
Pros
good benefits, flexible work hours
Cons
managers are allowed to retaliate, and have favorites

Don't Trust Management, Don't Get Sick
Analyst (Current Employee) –  OregonNovember 15, 2018
First off, they will lie to you and promise you things in order to get you to accept a lower wage then they will completely fail to deliver or they will change the requirements.

Second, you may get hired on to do one thing but you will end up doing way more than what is in your job description and they will make every excuse possible for why you should be doing it and why you aren't going to be compensated for it.

Third, and this refers to number one as well, management cannot be trusted to keep their word. They will also throw you under the bus in order to keep themselves from looking bad.

They boast about giving "generous paid time off". What they don't tell you is that you get 24 days of paid time off per year. Those count as your sick days, vacation days AND, you have to use them if you want holidays off. So, let's say you want to take Christmas and Thanksgiving off to spend time with family, those come out of your paid time off. Down to 22 days. Most people like to have Memorial and Labor days off for events and gatherings. Down to 20. Independence day? hope it lands on a weekend or now you're at 21. Veteran's day? School's are out so if you have kids, down to 20. New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day? Well, school is out then too so we are at 18.

So, we are at 18 days of paid time off per year. Ever get sick? Well, those days come out of the PTO. Don't catch the flu, that's about 7 days out, down to 11. And by the way, if you don't get your flu shot, you have to wear a mask around wherever patients are. Kind of like a Fascist regime
more... forcing you to accept a shot or you get punished. See where this is going? The time off is a joke. "Generous" PTO would be to give you enough time to cover illness and have a vacation once in a while. Not be able to only have holidays and a few sick days.

They really like their statement "To be your trusted health partner for life - every person, every time". That should come with as asterisk. First off all, you're really just a number there and that number is preceded by a dollar sign. If you are on Oregon Health Plan, you will get treated and have your issue resolved very quickly (they don't make money off of you). If you are privately insured, you will be bounced around between Asante doctors, and Asante testing facilities for years before they manage to resolve anything. After all, your insurance pays.

They also like to make you an exempt employee then force you to be on-call. So, if you don't make your 40 hours, you lose pay but if they require you to work more than 40, you don't get anything extra.

Horrible place to work
Medical Assistant (Current Employee) –  Grants Pass, OROctober 15, 2018
Do not work here!!!! Very cut throat, horrible management and dishonest. Days are hard and stressful at all levels. Providers look burned out and constantly leaving. Plenty of other places to work. I don't understand how they are a non-profit organization.
Pros

RN Staff (Former Employee) –  Medford, OROctober 4, 2018
The culture is hostile and isn't open to anyone new. If you're not part of the 'in' crowd, you're fresh meat to be picked apart and scrutinized. The 'seasoned' staff didn't like me because they felt I was a threat to the way they usually do things. If the hospital rolls out a change, no one ever heeds it. It becomes a numbers game with management. All they care about is if you clocked out on time so they can meet their budget. Yet they're constantly short-staffed and you pick up extra hours to help out. Management definitely favors the seasoned staff and believes everything they say so if they don't like you, you're just as good as gone. Benefits were good but that's the only nice thing about the job.

There are some good people that work there, as well as some not so good.
Security Officer (Current Employee) –  Medford, ORAugust 25, 2018
Not a bad place to work, pay could be a bit more for the non union positions. Management needs to take a serious look at possibly arming their security officers, due to the location the hospital is and the amount of meth users and homeless people they treat.
Pros
Some good people to work with

Cafeteria needs better selection of food.

management was an issue at Asante
Account Receivable Specialist (Former Employee) –  Medford, ORAugust 12, 2018
I worked in the revenue cycle and the management was horrible. Management picked favorites and had these people spy on other employees and report back to them. When management wants you gone, they make your working environment unpleasant until you either quit or are fired. Management in the revenue cycle is threatened by employees who want to advance. The management won't allow employees to advance even to other departments within Asante. The only way to advance in your career is to quit and find other employment opportunities. The management also has no education or degree and doesn't understand how to motivate and manage people.
