Partnership of Ashe, formerly known as Ashe County Partnership for Children, is a non-profit organization and has been in operation since January 1995. The staff and Board of Directors are dedicated to serving families and children. We want our programs to do more to help individuals and families, reach more children, and help foster more opportunities for success. We are currently located 113 Partnership Drive in Jefferson.
The current programs offered by Partnership of Ashe are:
• A Safe Home for Everyone (ASHE) provides support, advocacy, and emergency housing services to assist survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their families. We are also providing education, empowerment, and support for children, adolescents, and teens to work toward ending the cycle of domestic violence and sexual assault. Through this program we have more families and children living in violence free homes. Over 200 clients have been served through this program in the past year. 53 of those clients were children who had been exposed to violence or experienced teen dating violence.
• Early Childhood & Education Services provides support, mentoring, training, and assistance to child care providers to ensure high quality care for children. Through this program we also offer Raising A Reader which encourages reading and book sharing for families to help grow the love for reading. A Lending Library is also available, for a small fee, with toys, books, games and learning kits available for check-out. These items provide families and child care providers with additional activities to use with children. Within the past year, 104 early childhood educators have been provided assistance and education opportunities. The services from this program has also provided better care and education for over 950 children.
• Family Foundations provides individualized support and health assessments to families through home visitation. Providing information, connections to resources, someone to listen to concerns, and building upon the parent’s strengths because they are their child’s first teachers. This program is specifically designed to encourage positive parent /child interactions, thus preventing issues of childhood abuse and neglect. In the past year, 31 families encompassing 51 children have been served through weekly home visits and health and developmental assessments to ensure family well-being. Through our Family Foundations program we also offer Lactation Education services.
• Triple P – Positive Parenting Program provides tips and strategies to help parents encourage positive behavior while maintaining a positive, nurturing environment for their family. Parents know their families best, so they can choose the tips and strategies to redirect their children. We encourage parents to have open, positive communication with their children. 150 parents have been provided information about Triple P services in the past year.
• Subsidy in the amount of over $140,000 is allocated annually through our Smart Start funding to Ashe County DSS which provides quality child care to 73 children. These funds allow their parents to work or go to school.
