A typical day at work involves seeing a minimum of 5 clients a day to make productivity each week. Some days included doing evaluations for eligibility or to see how a child has progressed. Each client had different goals that the family was working on and it was our job to help the family work towards the developmental goals for their child. Every 6 months the goals were reviewed to ensure that they were reachable and that they were manageable and routine based. The social workers in the agency are very close and support each other through social work supervision and are always willing to answer questions and help problem solve. The hardest part was fitting everything in to the work hours because it's so important to make sure you see clients. Things such as paperwork, filing, organizing charts, seeing clients, submitting important paperwork and things of that nature can be hard to accomplish when you're day is filled with seeing back to back clients from 8-4:30 every day.
Friendly work environment
work with the clients is interesting but more emphasis is put on meeting productivity than the quality of work done with clients. Despite the fact that it's 2017 everything is on paper which creates a lot of duplication of information. However many employees have been working there many years and appear happy with their positions.
