challenging, autonomous case manager position
RN Case Manager (Former Employee) –  Farmington, CTAugust 6, 2019
The Case Manager position at Athena challenged me to provide the nursing care needed and coordinate the total care for each client. Although rewarding, I found it difficult to maintain a balance between work and family life. I was proud to be a part of such a professional organization. Management was very supportive.

Company was Cannibalistic. Devoured their own people. Didn't have proper licensing in place. Can't say enough - do not!
Operations (Former Employee) –  ConnecticutJuly 17, 2019
The culture here was bizarre. Some people were very nice but the culture is like nothing I have ever experienced Coworkers screaming at each other over the phone, blame game, awfulness.

They did not have the license to work out of one location, come to find out this was not the first time they did this. There have been other locations they have worked at without proper state licensing. Stay away. Unstable and Crazy. Have never seen anything like this in my professional experience,

Nurse (Former Employee) –  Farmington, CTJuly 13, 2019
The only pro might be the pay, then again the pay doesn't compensate for all the mileage put into your personal vehicles (an average of 10k in just 3 months). They hire you to cover one area but it's a guarantee you will be sent anywhere in the state of CT just to get the visit covered even if it's a hour plus away from home. The company can't keep nurses for longer than 90 days, that should speak for itself. Management is highly unprofessional and unqualified for the position. They are corporate puppets and wont back up their nursing staff. Policy book is non existent they make their policies as they go along or to cover themselves when they realize that such policy does not exist. Training is a joke, completely non existent, nurses have to teach themselves and are expected to do it correctly otherwise be prepared to be reprimanded for your errors. Nurses who have quit months prior are still listed as case managers on charts just to make them look good because there aren't enough nurses to case manage on the field. They don't value their staff, don't expect to be shown any kind of appreciation working here. If you want a burn out job, with messy unprofessional management, with no training and nothing but disorganization across the board, this is the job for you.

Unprofessional
Nurse (Former Employee) –  CTFebruary 2, 2019
Zero training or orientation to policies or otherwise. No policies on basic yet important areas, ie meds. No support to field staff. One manager who micromanages everything and others who are never available. Lack of knowledge of regs and procedures by management and HR. Unreasonable expectations. Unfair treatment, bully environment. Different rules for different people. No advancement and absolutely zero care, concern or support for field staff. Unprofessional. The pay is good. My advice is carry liability insurance and be prepared to drive all over the state.

They are trying to improve but it is slow
Hospice/Home Health Nurse (Former Employee) –  North Haven, CTOctober 21, 2016
The job tasks were reasonable and easy to accomplish. There is no training, no training programs, all trial by error which is not fair to the employees or the patients. No matter what your job skills are you are bound to mess something up. Co-workers were great but it was just that one manager that made everyone quit or she fired. Salary was very good for the field.
Pros
good pay
Cons
No training and Manager was nasty
