Fun place to work but poor management

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
AMP a fun place to work and most coworkers are friendly. Most days are fun but management could be better. The CEO is very friendly. The track provides a fun atmosphere. Overall the main problem is the management, but working at AMP can be fun.

Fun but bad managment

It is a fun place to work but the management can be better. You are basically doing all the work by yourself. Even if you ask they do not help you but just belittle you and make fun of you. They do not work around your schedule. They do not tell you if you need improvement but rather talk behind your back. The environment is very toxic from the supervisors and HR. Also, don't take anything serious about what the employees are going through. Very bad management. They only care about rates, pushing people to the edge, and very little about their employees. A nightmare of a company.

Exciting and Educational

Great team environment with plenty of opportunities to learn new skills. I started out as a staff writer but learned how to help with marketing tasks such as social media and video. My favorite part was the unique atmosphere with different supercars showing up every day and the opportunity to interact with successful people from all different backgrounds. They were also very flexible with my hours which was important since I was a student at the time.

Fun workplace great environment

You get to drive go-karts and can work your way up to be a go-kart technician along with many other opportunities. Management is down to earth and they provide tools to help you be successful. Fast paced with friendly employees and customers. Free lunch multiple times a month. Fast cars and karts and full of excitement.

Pros

The environment is great

Cons

No fast food close to the track

Fast-Paced, Chaotic Fun

Although the average day at work can be stressful, working at the kart track is one of the most fun jobs you can have. Not only can you make friendships that will last your entire life, you get to be around fast karts and exotic cars. The members at AMP are some of the coolest people you will ever meet. The management is normally pretty laid back as long as you do what you're supposed to do and stay on task. Race days can be very long and exhausting, but these are the days where you get to feel the true racing environment at the track. Overall, I have enjoyed and still enjoying my experience with AMP Kart Track.

Pros

Great friendships, great connections, fun job

Productive yet fun to work

AMP has been the type of job I never thought I wanted, or needed. I can not begin to discribe how much I love doing the jobs I do here. I mean what's not to love, you have great people you work for and with, and cool fast cars. For someone who grew up around cars, I couldn't ask for anything better.

Exciting Place to work

Working at Atlanta Motorsports Park has been an excellent experience. The interview process was helpful in advancing my understand of the position as well as giving me an insight into the day to day tasks. AMP was extremely responsive during my hiring process and everyone here is a team player.

Pros

Team lunches, exciting environment, great team members, friendly management.

Productive and Easy Job

This job is amazing. I enjoy working with my team and meeting new customers everyday. Each day, while it is repetitive work, each day has a new experience. I work closely with our members and the public karters we have each day. Management is amazing, I enjoy working with them. I've never had a job that I have enjoyed more. I highly recommend working for Atlanta Motorsports Park!

Pros

Fun Work Enviroment, Meeting New People

Cons

Challenging days - but they are still fun!

Fun and exciting work environment - never a dull moment!

Atlanta Motorsports Park is a world class facility with an amazing story. They have had challenges over the years as all businesses do - but they have made huge leaps forward recently in particular and it shows. They have stepped up their game in regards to the management at both tracks, and become much more organized as the business continues to develop. As they attract more talent the overall organization and racing experience they deliver keeps getting better and better. The Kart Track is booming in particular, and they have a lot of exciting things happening at both tracks including the development of new programs that are feeding the racing community. With regards to compensation the starting pay rates for hourly staff are fair. For managers the pay varies with experience, but from what Ive seen over the last couple of years they are very competitive to companies and willing to compensate accordingly. The only downside here is that they do not currently offer health insurance, but I know they are looking into it again for managers and supervisors. The CEO is very involved in all aspects of the business and he was a lot of fun to work with - I found he gave plenty of direction and had high standards (as most CEOs do) but he was also reasonable and listened when given feedback or alternative suggestions. I personally enjoyed working with him and overall they have a great team and are tight like family!

Pros

Exciting opportunities, rad people (staff and customers), fun environment

Cons

Weekend availability required

Awful Management

In my 2 years with Amp, we went through 3 GMs, about 20 other employees 4 rotations of management staff. There was only a few who actually cared and would do anything for you. You could be worked 3 days straight at times. For a long time there was no running water and no bathrooms. OSHA would have a field day if notified and nobody tip off upper management. Extremely unsafe working conditions. The pay is not the best, you can go just about anywhere fast food wise and make the same starting.

Pros

Meeting cool people

Cons

Everything else

Able to make great connections. awful management

I worked for Atlanta motorsports park For over 2 years. I gave it my all, working 16 hour days on a weekly basis came in on my days off. job security is a joke The CEO will tell you youre worthless and can be replaced tomorrow without a problem. I worked just about every position at the kart track and never got any recognition. they say the pay is above local average. yeah maybe in 2010. I've learned never take to take salary. you will be vastly under paid expected to work at least 50 hours a week with not even a thank you. i worked closely with the members and youll meet some great people. but you will have to put up with a micromanaging CEO who has no clue whats going on in his own company

Pros

Met some great people

Cons

Management doesn't know what the are doing

Terrible Management

Worst management in the history of Motorsports. Management could not care less about lower level employees, and lets you know on a constant basis that they can replace you any day.

A great work atmosphere and a very rewarding company

Not only is Atlanta Motorsports Park a great company to work for, it's a very fun place to be. You're challenged to help make client experiences memerable, along the way you meet a lot of great people and make memories of your own. You wont find a better work environment nor will you find a more rewarding career. AMP is as good as it gets!

A great place to work!

I started working at the Atlanta Motorsports Park as a Corner Marshall. Three months later, I applied for the Front Gate attendant position. Within a month I was offered a part-time receptionist position. Soon after working in the office, an Event employee called in sick and I was asked to work the event. A new title position was created and I became a “Floater”. I recognized opportunities within the company and took the initiative to apply and upgrade my positions. If it had not been for the support and encouragement of my supervisors and managers, I would not have done as well as I did. I received three raises in eighteen months. I witnessed many employees with competitive incentive, create and full-fill several positions at AMP, giving a part of themselves to the park. As with all motorsport’s parks and venues, jobs are competitive. Job security is up to the employee. Receiving recognition from the CEO, gave me more inspiration to work for the Atlanta Motorsports Park. He took time to listen to my opinions and suggestions and always sought me out to thank me for all my hard work.

Everyone was great to work with.

It was like working for a big family. Good people in every department. Team players. Everyone would pull together to make sure the job was done and customers were happy.

Very unique and rewarding place to work

This is without a doubt one for this most unique works environments probably in the country. You are working for some of the nicest members that I have ever come across in my entire career. I worked directly with the CEO and all other department heads and everyone worked as a team for the greater good of the club. If you work hard and have a positive attitude there is always room for advancement within the organization. It can be a very demanding job, but the hard work doesn't go unnoticed. While working there i had the opportunity to work with production companies, major car and tire manufactures, as well as political figures and celebrities. While the very cool cars and the and the fast pace of the cart track are a blast to be around, it's the people of AMP, members and the employes that make this one of the most rewarding jobs that I ever had. If you are lucky enough to get the opportunity to work at AMP, i would highly suggest take it,

Fun place with cool cars but that's it

The idea of working at a track seems cool until you realize that they don't care about the staff what so ever. The lower level staff are worked in harsh conditions and treated like they are disposable at anytime and constantly reminded they are disposable. If you think there is any chance to advance in the company think again as the CEO and upper management do not believe in promoting within but rather hire inexperienced people to do the job for less money. To say the pay is competitive would be a laughable joke as you could work almost anywhere in better conditions for more money. all in all it may be a fun place to visit but not for work, you'll be severely under paid and very under appreciated.

Great place to work.

A typical day is rewarding. The Members are very appreciative of the staff and the Member's love for cars, bikes and overall racing makes for a great day at the circuit. The hardest part of the job is scheduling staff's time to support the Member's needs. The most enjoyable part of the job is Member satisfaction and the appreciation of fast beautiful cars.

Fun job. Terrible management

You are surrounded by cool cars and some nice clients, but you are overworked and treated as a tool instead of an asset. No raises. No bonuses. No PTO unless you are salary. Salary does not come easy, and if it does, they try to offer you a measly sum, but offer you a "track membership" on top, as if it will help you pay the bills. The CEO always touts that the pay is competitive and above the local average....maybe for 2007. He see's his business as a gift, and you should be honored to work for him. There is very little room for advancement. The CEO Loves to micro manage and always tells you how it is going to be. Rarely open to suggestions. "He knows best" There is no job security, as the CEO has openly stated that anyone can be replaced tomorrow. There are around 50 employees and the CEO is very involved in what's going on, but takes no time to get to know the employees on a personal level. Overall, 2 out of 10

Productive fast paced environment

Atlanta Motorsports Park is a fun and productive workplace, they take things seriously but intend to help you enjoy your time there. The environment is changing fairly quickly so things never get old. If you enjoy cars or anything with an engine, you will enjoy your time at AMP.

Pros

Occasional free lunches

Cons

Long days, working in extreme temperatures

Fun slow paced job

A typical day as a track marshal is usually pretty slow. Yet your job is very important and you have to be on your toes at all times in case an accident occurs. One of the coolest parts of the job is seeing all of the amazing vehicles and drivers that come in and out of the park.

Pros

Some meals and track perks

Cons

Not always the most exciting
