Solid company
SSR (Current Employee) –  NJJanuary 18, 2019
No company is perfect and you have to be ready to prove yourself if you want to move up anywhere. Auto-Chlor may not be the fanciest but it's a solid company. No lay offs, no bad work environment, just straightforward working days. You go in, do your work and go home. To me, that's work life balance, not having to go home and worry or talk about work. Customers are awesome to work with, they're happy when we walk in the door and no manager is perfect but you get to work on your own and manage your day. All company's have goals but if you're not motivated, this place isn't for you.
Pros
Free lunches, autonomy and friendly work culture
Cons
Salaries could be better but that's anywhere

Great pay but management and job hours both suck
Service/Sales Technician (Former Employee) –  Carlstadt, NJJanuary 18, 2019
Management is extremely sneaky and very petty for grown men. You don’t know what condition your truck might be in when you get one. Pays extremely well for a job that will train you but you’re not guaranteed to last
Pros
Pay, benefits, & savings fund
Cons
Management, job security, & work hours and conditions

Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILJanuary 8, 2019
Not much support for branches from corporate. Training little to none for sales reps and service reps. Mostly self taught positions. Branch Managers not trained. Five HR Directors in last 6 years --- go figure. Very low morale. Although, COO screams - People First! Funny!
Pros
Free lunch once a month?

No training or support for new hires

You will not get what you need to succeed. Revolving door for Account Executives
Account Executive (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXDecember 18, 2018
IF: you have sales experience; worked for Auto-Chlor or a competitor;
know what businesses to target; can identify who is already a Auto-Chlor customer; have a high tolerance for confusion; have a high tolerance for inconsistency; already have complete knowledge of competitors and their strategies; can train yourself; don't mind job insecurity; don't mind not having historical territory data; like working WITHOUT a CRM; then this may be the opportunity for you.
The turnover for Account Executives is extremely high. There is no clear marketing strategy or business plan. The training is severely inadequate. Territory boundaries are clearly defined, however there are numerous exceptions as to when another AE can sell in your territory. The exceptions to the rule are unknown until you have waisted your time targeting the customer and realize another AE or the management has sold the account.

This company is made up of franchises. There is no complete nationwide coverage and little consistency throughout the franchises. The DFW area has a good reputation for products and service in the dishwashing market. However, they have a terrible reputation in the laundry market. In all fairness, some realize the challenge and are making efforts to improve. Unfortunately , bad reputations take time to improve.

This is not a bad company. Like any other company , they have issues. There are a few that recognize the need to significantly revamp the sales organization. Unfortunately , they are not in the position to implement the much needed changes. Industries and technology have changed.
more... Auto-Chlor has failed to keep up with the changes to remain competitive . They also fail to develop and retain good talent.  less
Pros
Hard working and knowledgable sales and service co-workers
Cons
Management does not understand what it takes to develop and operate a sales organiztion.

Technician (Former Employee) –  New York, NYNovember 30, 2018
Stay away from this company. Management is a joke. You get the managers job because you happen to be standing there when they walk by and they offer you the job with no mgt experience what so ever. They lie to you about bonuses that you will get which everyone gets 1 bonus a yr and it's pretty much 1 particular bill. no more no less. No raises, not even cost of living. If you do get a raise it would be for salaried personnel and the raise doesn't cover the increase in your health ins premium. The company is pitiful. Do yourself a favor, stay away. The company needs to clean house and get a true managing staff that have true mgt skills.

ssr (Current Employee) –  Carlstadt, NJNovember 30, 2018
The management team cares nothing about the employees. They create a system of goals that keep you in a box. If you exceed these goals they manipulate the numbers so you cant reach the goal again. If the manager doesn't like you, you will never make money. If he does like you, he will put you against other employees to create a hostile work environment.

They will lie to you from day 1
Service, Sales Representative (Former Employee) –  Carlstadt, NJOctober 24, 2018
Auto Chlor NJ - They have little care if you are in good health, sick, happy or sad. They expect you to come in at 7am attend a non sense meeting for 20 min, load your truck and do your 6-12 stops a day. They expect you to collect money from all your stops, repair the machine 6-12 machines a day, sell additional soaps and cleaners, and collect money all before 5pm. You are required to work 1 day on call per week and 1 weekend a month including Friday,Sat,Sun. For all that they give you $15.00 per hour, and commission and lots of headaches. When you work here you feel like a tool. If you are doing a great job and meeting all you targets thats good for them, because you are just a tool. When the tool breaks, or crashes the van or is rude to a fellow employee it does not matter. They get rid of You, without any care. I forgot the best part. You have to lift heavy containers all day and you can"t feel tired. You if don'T believe me and another route driver
Pros
good health benefits
Cons
They do not offer any team building activities like field day or picnics.

Stay away. Low pay, expensive "benefits".
Route Sales Representative (Former Employee) –  TexasOctober 9, 2018
Extremely low pay, the "benefits" are way too expensive. They expect you to know everything without proper training. Outdated handheld computers and archaic way of work. Do not recomend to waste your time here.
Pros
Co-workers are good people.
Cons
Low pay, no way to survive in today's cost of living.

Floor Lead (Current Employee) –  Arlington, TXSeptember 29, 2018
Not good for a long term job. Very low pay compared to work expectations. No room for advancement. The 3 "managers" have been in charge for 10+ years. Raises are "anual" but are literally 10 to 11 cents if you're lucky .
Pros
Hour lunch
Cons
Run like a sweatshop

Route Service Sales Representative (Former Employee) –  Richmond Hill, NYSeptember 17, 2018
Job was great. Benefits are excellent especially for those with a family. Retirement packages 401k and profit sharing are a plus. Job expectations made clear on day 1. Proper training given upon arrival. A lot of micromanaging unfortunately. Heavy lifting must be fit. Unlimited overtime.
Pros
Unlimited overtime and benefits
Cons
Physically demanding, micromanaging

Route Driver (Former Employee) –  Sacramento, CAAugust 15, 2018
The management team doesnt seem to care about how their hiring process works. they hire whatever amount of people they think they need then judge it later and let people go based on work flow. If you are new too the company and there isn't much to do at the time, they will most likely lay you off. I was hired for one position and started training for a different one, then another one, then another one after that until they decided they didnt need help anywhere anymore.
Pros
Very cool coworkers and very good pay

Generally speaking it is a great place to work.
Office Manager (Former Employee) –  Bethel, CTAugust 4, 2018
I loved the job I did and the people in the office and in Corporate. Hours were fine. I got the opportunity though a Temp Agency, and they really did not communicate very well. I was treated with respect and like a part of the team. The guys I worked with were awesome.
Pros
Close to my house, and I loved the work I did
Cons
It was a temp assignment to cover someone out on maturnity leave, Also could have used a bit more training before starting the position. (Not the empoyers fault)

Too many chiefs not enough indians. Always over worked and under paid. Manager support was nonexistent. Got handed a route that was doing poorly very poorly and when I didn’t turn it around 360 instantly I was punished for it. Lost accounts due to no manager going to sign them.
