Unsupportive, clicky, unprofessional,
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) - New Haven, CT - September 19, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI definitely came into this position, expecting what they promote, which is “one crew”. That is absolutely not true. My manager walks past me and doesn’t even speak. Very unprofessional, terrible with communication. Lacks managerial skills which trickles down to the staff. Definitely seems like a job where “friends and family” have only been promoted. How are use my time and skills here wisely to move on to a more professional airline.
Cons
Part time- no heathcare benefits, no paid holidays

low pay and long hours

long hours and low pay, do not recommend Avelo unless you are just starting out and want to get into airline industry. better opportunities elsewhere

Love avelo
Flight Attendant (Current Employee) - Wilmington, DE - July 7, 2023
It’s a great place to start when you have no experience in being a flight attendant or work in aviation! I’m not going to say it’s perfect has there our growing pains in the company but I don’t regret working here and easily see myself here for years

Friendly Base, but okay company
Flight Attendant (Current Employee) - Raleigh, NC - July 1, 2023
Love the people I work with, company is young so not as many resources and benefits for us. Pay is pretty decent starting out and is on par with other airlines.

It is what you make of it
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Burbank, CA - July 1, 2023
Clock in do your job. Every place has its ups and downs but it's what you make of it. They are fairly new so things will not be as smoothly as perhaps another airline whose had their footing for a while and even then some of those have dropped the ball.

Worst Airline to work for
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) - Burbank, CA - June 30, 2023
Avelo Airlines does not care about their Flight Attendants, if you don't believe my review than go ahead and find out on your own. I left Avelo, very disappointed to say the least. They promise things amd communicate, but don't deliver. I did not have a good experience at Avelo Air, lots of FAs are considering leaving for better legacy Airlines.

Part time and nothing else
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) - Orlando, FL - June 18, 2023
I so much wanted to grow with this airline, but I'm strictly here until I get a better job. Leadership is paranoid from station manager and up. Training is half a@$ed and pitiful. Don't expect too much support and or consistency in what you do. And don't show off. The Gods will kick you down.
Pros
Three days off
Cons
Just about everything

Geat company when I started but went downhill.
Customer Support Crew (Former Employee) - Remote - June 18, 2023
Typical Day: You must start answering phone the moment your scheduled shift is to begin and continue taking calls back to back until its time to clock out. two 15 min paid breaks + 30 min unpaid lunch are provided. Calls are coming in back to back but if it is slow, they will make you work on emails. We are expected to handle almost every issue, including website errors, baggage issues, airport staff calling us for help, flight IRROPS, reimbursements, missed flights, etc. Some customers can be verbally abusive. While we are allowed to hang up by upper management, the supervisors were unwilling to permit it. Work culture: At first, it was a friendly laid back startup culture, Avelo seemed geared towards being different youthful work environment and promotes their 'OneCrew' mantra heavily. This changed as new rules and new supervisors were implemented. We transitioned into a more unforgiving cooperate call center environment. Senior coworkers looked down at the new hires while leads became impatient in helping as they have more things to work on. Some leads are kind, most leads and managers became more focused on high call volume and are not accessible unless they want to speak with you about attendance. Many are also unwilling to take calls requesting a supervisor. There is alot of discrepancy between departments & airport staff. Yeah it was work from home, but it was very toxic here. The job position is full time only, so call center burnout was a very real issue to your mental health. Avelo does not have a baggage tracking system and their route network is very small -
Pros
Pto, health + flight benefits, work from home
Cons
shift bidding, call center burnout, lack of support from upper management, difficult to get time off

Good place to start out
Ramp Agent (Former Employee) - New Haven, CT - May 13, 2023
Not too bad of a place to start your career in airline industry. Definitely room to move up. The company is newer and has a lot of growing pains. Hopefully things will get better once the new terminal is finally built

Amazing
Flight Operations Specialist (Current Employee) - Remote - May 5, 2023
Caring and understanding people working to build an amazing airline. It's a unique environment where it feels like everyone is pulling their own weight to make something special. It's important to mention that this a startup, and that there are growing pains. Fortunately, there is a solid vision that is on its way to being realized.

Lots of drama
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) - Orlando, FL - April 23, 2023
Lots of drama at bases. Zero tolerance for not being kind ALWAYS! You can be terminated just like that! Your livelihood gone without a warning. No service on board so you just sit there for hours doing nothing.

Flight Attendant (Former Employee) - Burbank, CA - February 8, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Mostly just day trips. If that’s important to you. Most airline companies are not like that. Not sure I can provide anymore “bests” for this company. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Management knows all and will only pay you lip service for your ideas. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It was not what was presented. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Boring - No service so not much interaction with the customer.

It's a crazy plane with little work
Customer Service Crew Member (Former Employee) - Burbank, CA - December 13, 2022
We sat and watched TV often and management would tell everyone to "look busy" people took naps and hid. There were so few planes coming in or out. Very unusual atmosphere.

Great management. Fantastic crew members to work with.
Captain (Current Employee) - Burbank, CA - December 8, 2022
After almost two years of flying for Avelo, I have come to realize that it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. We are growing fast, and we are led by smart people.
Pros
Fast advancement and many opportunities.
Cons
Health care is expensive.

Potential within the company , unfair and unethical work environment
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Remote - December 7, 2022
For a new airline their is a lot of potential . Travel benefits are always a plus ans great to work from home but Unfortunately unfair practices from management will be the loss of many great employees . Very hostile work environment with chosen favorites . Reps in contact center deals with every customer service inquiry and their is not enough man power . Policies were changed very often no clarification.
Pros
Travel benefits
Cons
Over worked

Awful place to work unless your a pilot.
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) - New Haven, CT - November 22, 2022
Management lacks integrity, under paid, they take advantage of the flight attendants. Thu don’t pay properly, money is always missing out of paychecks. Planes are old and not safe.
Pros
2 dollar flights on Avelo.
Cons
The morale and integrity of the company does not align

Ambitious Company, Mismanagement
Flight Crew Support Specialist (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - October 28, 2022
Flexible work from home Passionate people at top management and keep everyone engaged. Severely understaffed, no flexible work schedule and hard to get PTO approval. Vague and ambiguous instructions from team management, scrutiny on daily handling including email and call recording.

Terrible Management
Flight Attendant (Current Employee) - New Haven, CT - October 15, 2022
Inflight management is non-existent, unsupportive, and very disrespectful. There is a huge lack of standardization and lack of communication. They are also very resistant to change, claiming that the flight attendant group doesn't want the changes we have been asking for. Reserve rules are terrible, and don't expect to make much money here, both as a lineholder, and reserve flight attendant. Management will use you until you're no go to them and burn you quickly. FAs are trying to unionize to see change. It's a good starter airline to get your feet wet and understand the industry, but not to build a career. Don't expect career advancement unless you are a "yes man" or suck up.
Pros
Decent benefits, Flexible Schedule
Cons
Low pay, Terrible inflight management
