environment changed dramatically with personnel changes
Manager, Indirect Procurement, North America (Former Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAJune 18, 2018
Axalta was a "typical" corporate environment. Vertically managed with bits of horizontal enablement. Not a difficult place, unless one missed financial goals.
Pros
fair compensation
Cons
environment changed dramatically with leadership changes

Accounting and Finance Specialist (Former Employee) –  Glen Mills, PAMay 22, 2018
Good company with a strong staff. Tough work life balance and expected work weeks typically are well above a 40/50 hour week. Employee engagement could be better and could use more work on creating a better overall culture.

Excellent Work place-felt like one big family
Laboratory Technician / Associate Investigator (Former Employee) –  Wilmington, DEApril 4, 2018
I was employed at DuPont/Axalta for 13 years and regret leaving there. It was an excellent place to work. Everyone knew o ne another and it was almost like one big family. People were willing to help one another with their workloads or assist each other even when personal hardships took place.
Pros
Family atmosphere
Cons
Many lazy employees

decent place to work
lab tech (Current Employee) –  Mount Clemens, MIMarch 31, 2018
Been here a few years and its a decent place to work. Pay and benefits are good. Follow Test Methods, area procedures and SOG's to complete work. Everyone is familiar with DOT regulations because of constant training. Some managers better than others but overall everyone is good. Can definitely be busy at times and for some areas get forced for overtime. The most enjoyable part is the people.
Pros
decent starting pay and benefits
Cons
Good place to start but many move on

Great people, but very poor management causing high turnover.
R&D Senior Laboratory Technician (Current Employee) –  Mount Clemens, MIMarch 13, 2018
A great place, only to build a resume and get experience. There's no more career advancement. When your review comes out they'll purposely hold you back so your raise will fit their shrinking budget every year.
Too many unnecessary layoffs and nobody to fill the shoes except the ones that are left. The place is a mess because of management causing anyone with five years or less to constantly leave.
Pros
straight 8 hours for non-exempt. People are great/
Cons
Management. No career advancement. Constant cutting and layoffs.

Executive Assistant (Former Employee) –  Glen Mills, PAFebruary 17, 2018
Job was great. I loved my team. They were all strong and experienced in their fields and loved what they did with passion. Very flexible hours and the ability to work from home, due to the long hours being worked. My manager was a strong leader and amazing at what she did. Feel however, her voice was hidden at times.

Work life balance was just hard.
Pros
Flexible Job hours
Cons
A lot of hours

Field Sales (Current Employee) –  USFebruary 11, 2018
Company is challenged by obsolete, worn production equipment, dated technology, questionable managers. Positioning for sale / merger compromises long-term employment stability.

Many changes leads to frustration
Sales (Current Employee) –  MichiganJanuary 22, 2018
Changes promised to make workplace better but only end up requiring more effort than they're worth to implement. Management is very disconnected from technical and operations. Efforts to streamline processes only seem to make more work for lower level employees. They pay well and have great benefits and fellow employees can be fun. Just very high pressure environment and poor management leading to high turnover.
Pros
coworkers are understanding

not flexible, bad management

Regional Manager, Business Development (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CANovember 15, 2017
Management does not communicate well & most of the people actually doing the work are not informed of strategy. Your opinion only counts if you are in headquarters. Although they say they reward performance, that is not always the case.
Pros
Decent benefit package
Cons
Poor communication, slow to react to the market

Good Paying Job Bad Structure
Associate Investigator (Former Employee) –  Wilmington, DEOctober 17, 2017
This company is in transition and has a lot of company issues to sort out. There is no real training on what you are expected to do. Just jump in with both feet and figure it out. Poor Management. HR will always take managements side on all issues.

A good place to start career
Graduate Research Intern (Current Employee) –  Wilmington, DEOctober 3, 2017
The company locate at a very nice spot.
I have learned how to approach chemical problems in an "industrial" way, quite different from that learnt in university.
My boss is very nice, teach me everything possible with enough patience.
The pace in company is balanced. This is the most enjoyable part. You need to work 40 hours per week but the time is flexible.

R&D Tech
R&D technician (Current Employee) –  Mt. Clemens, MIOctober 2, 2017
They don't hire, contractor/techs do all the work, while the employed older individuals sit and play on there computers. People think there better than others. Young and older chemist think there better than you even if you have a similar degree. Because of your position and that you are a contractor, you get talked down to and treated badly. large separation of employee and contractors. No incentives, such as no raises.
Pros
8hrs

They don't hire, very little insentive

Contractors are slow to be integrated
Research, Development and Test Technician (Current Employee) –  Mt. Clemens, MISeptember 29, 2017
They will hire you as a contractor and take their time to hire you. It has been over a year since they have hired any full-time. Only have 3 sick days for the first year until you earn a weeks vacation.
Pros
8 hour shift
Cons
Expect new hires and young employees to pick up the slack of the older ones.
