The most useful review selected by IndeedNice place to work and wages good. Training thought out and time given off when requested. Manager was respectful and low turnover rate was common. Treated well

beware: PE owned
Senior FP&A Analyst - Global Parts and Services (Former Employee) - Akron, OH - October 2, 2023
BW was a great company at one time. They're now P&E owned. Went in as a contractor work for 3 months and was hired fulltime then laid off 2 months later. A lot of the longtime management I worked with have moved on showing that they've lost trust in the company’s future. When I was there, the team members have not had a raise in several years however this was 3 years ago and might have changed since then. They did at that time allow until work from home and unlimited vacation. Meaning you had no vacation bank, you took what you needed. I work with some really great and dedicated people that really still cared about the success and future of the company.
Pros
Work from Home and unlimited vacation bank
Cons
Future of the company

Fun place to work, management needs improvement
Process, Controls & Design Engineer (Former Employee) - Barberton, OH - February 1, 2023
Typical Day: same as typical business day What did I learn: plenty of opportunity to learn, and everyone will help take time to answer your questions and teach you. Management: Upper management drove business into the ground. Workplace culture: Extremally friendly. Hardest part of the job: can't think of anything Most enjoyable part of the job: The people
Pros
The people.
Cons
Upper Management

Clear expectations of performance
Quality Engineer (Former Employee) - Lynchburg, VA - November 15, 2022
Work was well defined and the expectations were clearly communicated. Upper management in my division was inconsistent. They changed the entire middle management personnel 3 times in the 5 years that I worked there.

Jobs at Babcock & Wilcox
Good place to work while it lasts.
General Machinist (Former Employee) - main shop, bumped into tool room, then laid off. - March 22, 2022
Good atmosphere, work is interesting. Pay is good. However, it is not a company that fosters permanency. Layoffs come frequently, and sometimes quickly.

Used to be a great place to work.
Project Manager (Former Employee) - Akron, OH - March 19, 2022
The company used to be a great place to work for but, over the last 7 years, the culture has deteriorated due to upper management forgetting about the dedicated workers who made the company what it used to be. Good, smart, hardworking people have left the company in droves and the company has continued to outsource departments which make it difficult to work there.

Investing in the future!
Great company and willing to invest in the future. Always looking to diversify into new markets and expand into other countries. Willing and able to make new M & A's

Upper management is hollowing the remaining bits out of a husk of a company.
Mechanical Technician II (Current Employee) - Copley - February 18, 2022
Not the worst place to work, but after fifteen years and a few of them without raises, I can't help but feel a bit shortchanged money wise. They used to care about the employees, but there seems to be no room for advancement and though I like my boss, upper management are true heels. The president is on the board of the bank who is loaning us the money to keep afloat and takes 8 million in bonuses. Seems shady, probably not going to be here all that long.

No room for growth in a dying industry
Mechanic (Former Employee) - Copley, OH - February 16, 2022
Absolute garbage benefits, but they finally started matching a little on 401k again. Raises are unheard of, machines are old, outdated and some barely functional. A few decent guys that work there and the supervisor is nice. There's just no room for growth and the wages are no longer competitive. I'd keep looking if you want to find a career.

IT Professionals Run And Run Fast The Other Way
IT Specialist (Former Employee) - Barberton, OH - January 19, 2022
I met some awesome people to work with here. Very few were in IT management. Most of IT management was arrogant and condescending and used people as pawns to further their personal agendas. They did not care who they stepped on or who they stabbed in the back. I witnessed a lot of good people get trampled by IT management in this organization. What was most appalling is that IT managers were so delusional and full of themselves they actually thought they were great leaders. In reality they couldn't lead a group of pre-school children in afternoon story and nap time.
Pros
The only thing that was attractive about this place was the 9/80 compressed work week, which I understand they did away with.
Cons
In my opinion, IT management was the poster child of narcissistic management.

Understaffed. Too much cost cutting.
IT Support (Former Employee) - Akron, OH - January 11, 2022
I respect the work the leaders have done to save the company and rebrand it as a renewable/environmental company. But the cost cuts are too deep. First, they reduced staff, then outsourced, then outsourced some more. The folks that hung around are dealing with a largely inexperienced off-shore staff. Benefits have been stripped to the core, and although they offer remote work and flexibility, a day off doesn’t actually feel like a day off. The 9 hour work schedule that gets you every other Friday off is gone.
Pros
Free coffee, remote work. The folks that are left really care and are wonderful.
Cons
Healthcare coverage is bad, hard to get stuff covered, Extremely short-staffed, high turnover among both off-shore and on-shore staff.

Does not know how to work with or manage non craft folks
Non Craft (Former Employee) - Pennsylvania - December 3, 2021
As part of the non craft staff the company over all did not know how to communicate, compensate or work with me. While all other parts of the job site and companies were getting raises they indicated they were not and others were not either, which was a lie. During COVID there was NO communication from them as a company.
Pros
None
Cons
Understanding of non craft position and personelle

Average work environment with poor benefits
Project Manager (Former Employee) - Akron, OH - September 25, 2021
Once a proud successful company that was very family oriented is now a shell of what it used to be. Leadership not what it used to be. Morale at an all time low
