The most useful review selected by Indeedgreat hours, if you need time off they are pretty flexible. Never have had issues over the past 10 years of employment. Advancements are hard to come by.

Field Life Is Tough
Field Specialist, Logging While Drilling (Former Employee) - Mount Pleasant, PA - July 20, 2022
US Land works you as much as possible. Schedules are an idea but not a reality. It is difficult to plan appointments, vacation, and time with your family. PTO does not fully compensate you for what you earn when in the field.

Not the best place to work
Field Operator (Former Employee) - Brighton, CO - July 10, 2022
I used to work there as a field operator in Cement Department. Always being on call so schedule was unpredictable. District management had to much control and ran the the place their way, to much favoritism and was hard to advance. Turnover was about 50%. Pay was ok if you came without any skills, but getting raise was difficult because upper management was changing the progression plan every year and signing the equipment as main factor of increasing the pay was not easy because of the poor training program they had in the place. If you have any other education trying to utilize it and move up to different position in the company good luck with that, was very hard and turn to be not that lucrative in the end since this job is sensitive to the oil market and goes down every 5 years. Other then that lots of time was easy work but sometimes you had to work in bad weather after being on clock for a lots of hours. If you work with good guys around you might like this job but I would not try to make career out of it.

Not much room for advancement
Buyer/Planner (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - June 7, 2022
There was not much room for advancement/career progression even mentioned to managers. Work was fast paced and highly reactive and sometimes required us to be on-call.
Pros
good health insurance, 401k
Cons
lower than industry pay, lots of work

Good company to work for
Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Rock Springs, WY - June 5, 2022
you will work long hours but be rewarded with good pay and benefits. The oilfield is not for anyone but if you stick it out it will reward you with a great career.

productive and fun work place with a habit of under paying and over working employees
Lead Engineer (Current Employee) - Twinsburg, OH - June 3, 2022
Baker Hughes/RS, like many companies, was effected by covid and the great resignation. However, where many companies adapted to the times and offered competitive salary and work life balance, RS management took the opportunity to cut head count and increase remaining employee workloads. In addition, RS does not offer annual cost of living/market raise adjustments. Pay is entirely based on years at the company, and independent of initiative taken or personal growth within roles.

Good company to work for
Field Specialist – Thru Tubing / Fishing Supervisor (Former Employee) - Corpus Christi, TX - May 27, 2022
Enjoyed my time with Baker Hughes before the industry slowdown. Long hours and a lot of time away from home. Often traveled out of state but they were good about honoring scheduled days off.
Pros
Good compensation
Cons
Rigorous schedule

Job Security
Drilling Services Specialist (Current Employee) - Tomball, TX - May 18, 2022
Throughout the downturns and pandemic my job was safe. Benefits are very good. Advancement not so much. Management definitely could use advice and training.

It was a great company to work for
Carbide welder, Field service supervisor IV (Former Employee) - Oklahoma City, OK - April 19, 2022
I enjoyed my 6 years there and wouldn’t ever be against going back. But being oil you only get back as much as your willing to put in. Used to be some of the best benefits before ownership changed hands so many times.

Good benefits not so great pay
Software Engineer (Former Employee) - Nevada - March 18, 2022
401k is good. Unlimited time off is nice. Pay raises don't happen often and pay isn't equal to what else is out there currently. People are great though.
Pros
401k, unlimited time off
Cons
Not enough pay raises, pay seems better elsewhere

Not the same place I hired on
Information Technology Specialist (Former Employee) - The Woodlands, TX - February 21, 2022
I had worked for Baker Hughes for a long time and with the constant changes happening in the past few years, it is a completely different company. The old company actually felt like a family company, even though it was still large. I had good managers who fought to get you raises and advancement. Not the case anymore. Constant manager changes. Don’t count on loyalty or job security after being there for many years. They will lay you off without offering other opportunities or any notice. Even while emails are being sent about growth and new jobs coming. A very disappointing end to a long career.

Most employee deal with the suck because we are in a small town. pay is ok, but your are always working a a level above your title. Oh and its a mans world at the top. perks: 12 paid holidays, start with 10 vacation days. close to home. insurance. 401k. blah. no career advancement. IF we get raises they are poor. management is a dictatorship. hourly. hourly employees are a lower class. and recently vaccine mandates

12 paid holidays, start with 10 vacation days, close to home, insurance, 401k.
Cons
no career advancement, IF we get raises they are poor, management is a dictatorship, hourly employees are a lower class, recently vaccine mandates

Good place to learn but a bad long term career.
CNC Machinist (Former Employee) - Broken Arrow, OK - January 14, 2022
Keep your head down, get your 3 years in and get out. The difference in an employee who works hard and one who doesn’t do anything is about a 1 percent hourly increase per year.
Pros
Good first machinist job
Cons
Culture, pay

Typical American corporation. Don’t care about human beings. Only care about money
Account Manager/Oil and Gas Industry (Former Employee) - Santa Paula, CA - January 13, 2022
People and their quality of life are irrelevant to this company. Management’s only concern is that you make money and your margins are covered. Some people receive support and others are left on their own to figure everything out. Management is awful.
Pros
Compensation
Cons
Company has no interest in you as a human being.

Its ok for a paycheck
Assembly (Former Employee) - Claremore, OK - December 27, 2021
Management could improve. You really feel just a number and not really a team. Its something you go to for a job thats really it. They tell you one thing and promise you things until you get hired on then its a completely different conversation
Pros
Money is good and benefits
Cons
Promises are not kept and favorites are chosen

Good place to work
Financial Analyst (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - December 14, 2021
Honest management. No pressure to cook the books as an accountant. Often got comp time for working extra at month end and quarter end close. Reasonable amount of personal autonomy to do your job without micromanagement.
Pros
remote work
Cons
management via crisis

No employee loyalty at all
Field Service Technician (Current Employee) - Houston, TX - December 10, 2021
This company will run field service people into the ground. Pay has been cut to all time lows. Any sign of slow down in work they WILL LAY YOU OFF in the blink of an eye. They will sit you at home for months on end and not pay you a dime.
Pros
Direct managers are good.
Cons
No job security, at all, none

I'd be there forever if it wasn't for layoffs, great company to work for, awesome benefits. Was like a family. I for sure would work there again if all possible.
Pros
Lots of work events
Cons
Layoffs are common
