In Slate Hill at least, stop letting an office drone take away legally deserved OT. Remember that if you require a worker to do something, anything, that the worker must be compensated. Stay late for training? Yep, you must pay. In early by request? Yep, gotta pay. Your Dept has to realize that the clock punch, is the punch, is the punch, not her interpretation of a punch. Do you really want the DOL back auditing these shenanigans? We're so sick of it some of us will still the beans no matter what you promise. Do you want that particular person in charge of anything, let alone defending the fines and back pay that is owed? I wouldn't let her watch my lunch personally, but what do I know besides the number to the NYSDOL?

Once it is determined that someone is not the right person for a role (management, sales, project leader, etc) either assess if closer mentoring/training is an option, move them to a suitable role for their skill set, or dismiss them from the company. I see too many times where people have a reputation for not performing in their role, which is not addressed in a timely manner and drags the rest of the team/company down.
