Unable to communicate clearly and consistently with employees. Lack of proper training sets the employees and the clients up for failureAs a person on ASD spectrum I found the lack of empathy, instruction, and communication extremely lacking. Even after going up the "chain of command" I was told that a 15 minute meeting each week (at the managers convenience) was unrealistic and that they have the system set up so that in person communication is unnecessary."
Coworkers are awesome to work with and always looking out for one another. Hours are not consistent so sometimes you might be working 50 hours for two weeks or only 20 hours for two weeks.

I was a teacher beforehand and also speak Spanish, so the biggest issue I had at first was that I was offered $19/hr to start with, considering he majority of the clients are Spanish speaking. The range was $17-$23. I figured I’d ask for a raise after 6 months. My supervisor is awesome and they really try to get everyone the most hours possible, but it is hard juggling everyone’s schedule. I don’t expect to ever work full time, but maybe 30 hours a week. I’m almost there now. I’ve been told I’m getting a dollar raise in addition to the company giving the behavior techs a $3 dollar raise come 2020, so the hourly rate I will be receiving is much more satisfying. If you have a lot of experience working with difficult kids, this should NOT be a stressful job.

I enjoyed my time at Basics NW. Company culture is good, management is caring, and everyone is supportive. Ongoing training is provided, and the company is interested in making sure you succeed.
