hard to work for a married couple
Senior Consultant (Former Employee) –  San Francisco, CAJanuary 24, 2018
the principals of BEAM were a married couple with complementary but very different skill sets. Together they made a good, albeit competitive team for client projects. Trying to develop a healthy partnership with one of them was extremely difficult.

CEO is Excellent
VP of Product and Customer Support (Current Employee) –  Pleasanton, CAJuly 14, 2016
Small company with good overall leadership. CEO is a technical wizard with a strong customer acumen. He does not micro manage his executive staff or their employees.

Accounts Payable Analyst (Former Employee) –  Louisville, KYJune 29, 2016
Co-workers were great. Job at first was great. As employees started to leave and being the member who had been in the group the longest I got several job duties put on me that eventually became too overwhelming.
In the process, I was able to learn a lot more about the program SAP and the payment process.
Concur I learned a lot about as well, but am disappointed that I didn't have time to learn more.
Training was never followed through.
Overall, this was my first career and I was able to learn and grow and develop over my three years there.
Pros
People, benefits
Cons
Management, training, people management

I would say Beam was trying to growing too fast and would throw lots of innovation against the wall.
Field Sales Manager (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILJune 9, 2016
Beam has great brands and with a great arsenal of bourbons the company has seen growth. It appeared they were initially chasing the flavored vodka craze, but had a diamond in the rough with the bourbon portfolio and when the consumers shifted to bourbons, Beam was primed to capitalize.
Pros
Great Brands - Great Benefits
Cons
The development of too many innovations all at once.

Communications Manager (Current Employee) –  Deerfield, ILAugust 16, 2013
No doubt you will work hard at Beam, and that's not a bad thing. If you're ambitious and want to make strides in your career quickly, Beam is a great fit. You make a huge difference in your career and for the company, but you have to have the drive and entrepreneurial spirit in you.
Pros
Generous PTO; Half-day Fridays; product reimbursement; employee stock purchase plan;

Beam Sucks
Temporary Quality Control Chemist (Former Employee) –  Clermont, KYMarch 6, 2013
Although Beam is doing great as a Fortune 500 company, it is issuing a lot of changes to make itself more competitive. This means employee compensation and benefits are below par for the industry. The union is over-protective and create friction, but they have reasons to. The pension system has been removed and the benefits have degraded. There is little opportunity for advancement with lateral shifts happening rarely, and upward shifts proportional to the rate of retirement. Also, the company's accounting team sucks.
Pros
bourbon give aways, gymn, name-recognition
Cons
sub-par benefits and compensation, obsolete culture, bean counters.
