Program Manager, Urinalysis (Former Employee) – Chatsworth, CA – February 15, 2018
Working at Beckman Coulter was never boring. Working on 5 different projects I found my fellow employees collaborative. Management did an excellent job in focusing the employees on common, consistent goals.
Senior Lead Formulations Technician (Former Employee) – Carlsbad, CA – February 14, 2018
Good company when Dr. Beckman was alive and still involved with company, challenging environment to maintain deliveries but a good thing. Company continually trying to improve itself in being competitive in tight market.
R&D (Current Employee) – Fort Collins, CO – February 10, 2018
Beckman Coulter offers stability, but, a limited potential to advance my career. I work with many good people, but, management employees outdated techniques. This leads to frustration as I'm unable to make a change.
Benefits, salary and flexible hours
Limited meaningful training, outdated management philosophy, poor prioritization of projects
Senior Technician Instrument Manufacturing (Former Employee) – Porterville, CA – January 29, 2018
Enjoyable to work with always had a positive attitude to changes team player . A typical day at work was already scheduled by planners of assembly to run and quantity, but that could change depending on demand on criticals. Good communication, quality and follow companies policies fast learner. They would recognize your hard work and be motivation to keep learning new skills .
Senior HR Coordinator (Current Employee) – Chatsworth, CA – January 26, 2018
This is a good company to work for but has gone through many management changes in the past 4 years. Many restructures. Benefits are great including 3 Volunteer Time Off days a year in addition to the standard Med/Den/Vis/Life?401K.
I would recommend this company as a decent place to work.
Sunrise Systems Contractor (Former Employee) – Chanhassen, MN – January 17, 2018
Poor Foresite, I quite a Fulltime job to work there Contract to Hire 6 months. Did a Great job and was told so. Most of the Full time Employees stood around a Talked about people. Poor management lack of vision and not enough work.
Customer Feedback Coordinator (Former Employee) – Hebron, KY – January 12, 2018
I worked at Beckman Coulter through a Temp Agency. I resolved customer complaints by finding ways to improve our processes. The atmosphere was friendly and collaborative but still allowed for an independent working experience.
Marketing Manager (Former Employee) – Brea, CA – January 6, 2018
Hired, enabled, coached and lead teams of creative, spirited and innovative: product marketing, applications, communications, events/exhibits and e-commerce professionals. Together the teams successfully developed, implemented and executed on strategic and tactical marketing plans that consistently achieved / exceeded revenue and margin goals.
TECHNICAL WRITER II (Current Employee) – Chaska, MN – January 5, 2018
It's not a bad company, it's just that there's only so much room for people to grow. There are a lot of great people at Beckman, many of them are in functional management. The difference between "Daily Management" and "Micro Management" should be investigated further in some groups.
Great people and friends
Lack of common sense. There is no easy button here.
Typical work day was doing same paperwork over and over with different products interspersed with more meetings than available time due to overloaded specialists. Leaves no time for strategy to be developed resulting in reactionary work products.Modern public companies have turned successful model offered by good private companies on its head. Coulter brothers said "People count!" and meant it. If you make employees happy and meaningful, they make customers happy which creates more sales and more customers as well as loyal employees. Modern philosophy is that stock holders must be pleased first, employees are expendable and customers are random result of reacting to stock price. Net result is dreadful customer service universally. hardest part of job was knowing we could improve efficiency if we had time for planning. Most enjoyable were fellow employees helping each other in face of lousy corporate strategy.
Generally cooperative employee culture
Seeing loss of customers due to poor customer service and de-valuing employee welfare
Systems Engineer (Former Employee) – Indianapolis, IN – December 23, 2017
Beckman Coulter is an excellent company. There are some very smart people working there. The environment is very collaborative. Unfortunately, I landed with a known bad manager. HR needs to deal with this guy!
