Behavioral Health Technician (Former Employee) - Torrington, CT - November 3, 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe pay is crucial to the work you do supporting those who are vulnerable . A person with a degree or degrees gets paid the minimal and ta person who may have no degrees, gets paid the maximum salary, there is no need to explain the mathematics. There is no culture and diversity , cultural awareness, or comprehension.
Pros
You have the opportunity to help people, and children in need of your quality services.
Cons
Neighborhoods you are sent to work in may not be culturally beneficial for the employee.

B Technician (Former Employee) - Torrington, CT - July 5, 2022
What is the best part of working at the company? The interview process where they promise you that you will get hours, they will work around your schedule, they will give you benefits - once you actually start, you quickly find out this is not the case What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Everything! So disorganized and a general culture of intimidation and threats. Little to no training and huge amounts of turnover What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Money is the bottom line - if you arent making the owner money, you are thrown away or threatened with your job

Need your head examined to work here, employees are friendly at first, til your gone
Scheduling Coordinator (Former Employee) - Torrington, CT - October 21, 2020
Management Doesn't care about the wellbeing of the disabled child, just the almighty Dollar she'll be making.Interview process was very in depth and knowledgeable. Certainly wasn't left hanging without an answer to a question and had plenty of time to ask questions and answer. As far as the management goes, She is definitely a character of her own. She micromanages everything, and expect to be blames for things you didn't do, and if you did do something and own up to it expect to have it exaggerated to the top knotch. She will let you go on anything even the littlest thing. And for the other employees, don't let them fool you, they will be nice to your face while your there but the second your not they turn their backs on you and cut your off like you never existed to them, friend or not. THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST!!!
Pros
Pay is OK
Cons
Everything

Behavioral Health Technician (Former Employee) - Torrington, CT - July 1, 2020
Tbh I’m not sure if I’m even still employed for this company. I was hired in the beginning of the year and have yet to meet my client. My supervisor seemed pretty cool, but went off the radar after a few weeks of me being hired. I haven’t received any notice of termination nor have I received any notification from management in regards to my status.
They do tell you that if you quit within the first 6 months of working you have to pay for your drug test. I also have no access to any of my employee information like certifications or anything. They make you download all of these apps it’s so draining and confusing. There’s an app for payroll, time spent with client, submitting documents, and their own email server. When going to the Torrington office I sat for over 4 hours filling out power work and taking quizzes that I have no recollection of what they were about. This place is very unorganized and I person Don t think they care about their clients.

You need your head examined if you want to work here!!!!
Office worker! (Former Employee) - Torrington, CT - September 26, 2019
Talk about therapy...you will need it if you expect anything but day to day chaos, but don’t get your therapy from this business. Money hungry and self-centered boss! Don’t expect to be encouraged to be assertive or pro active because the owner is a micro managing controller. Do plan on being accused of any sort of offense the owner feels you may have committed. And do plan on being let go for any reason!!!
Cons
Just everything!

Don’t bother
Contractor (Former Employee) - Various - September 25, 2019
Owner is not personable towards staff and is actually cruel . The company is driven by greed and not supportive of staff. It’s frowned upon to take time off for a vacation never mind being sick despite the time off being unpaid. There are no benefits and no collaboration with staff regarding teamwork, networking, etc. You are underpaid and unappreciated

Management is knowledable and work is interesting.
Clinician, Internship, ABA Behavior Technician (Current Employee) - Torrington, CT - June 18, 2019
The head of the company is an extremely proficient professional counselor and takes the time to increase an employee's knowledge base and professional growth.

Horrible management
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) (Former Employee) - Avon, CT - May 30, 2019
The management is rude and only cares about money, not your welfare or how good you are at your job. The BCBA was nice but I didn't learn anything from her.

I had a great opportunity to gain experience in diverse areas of Mental Health work.
Clinical Mental Health Counselor (Former Employee) - Avon, CT - October 8, 2015
I began as an intern Clinical Mental Health Counselor at Behavioral Health Consulting Services (BHCS). I spent the final 2 semesters of my Master's program completing my internship at BHCS, and during this time, my supervisor who is also the owner/CEO of this small but growing agency, made sure that I got enough clients to complete the required hours of clinical experience. I chose to stay on as a counselor after I completed my program and was awarded my MS degree.
Unfortunately, there is a high turnover rate of Clinical Staff, which can suddenly overburden the remaining Clinicians especially when they already have a maximum caseload. Changing clinicians partway into treatment certainly impacts therapy for clients, since they have to establish rapport with the new therapist, whose style and approach may be quite different from the previous one.
My supervisor and my coworkers were a nice bunch of people, as I find most of us in the counseling profession are. We enjoyed each others company at meetings, learning sessions, and at parties on holidays.
I must say that working for BHCS offered me a great deal of, and a wide variety of clinical experience as well as an opportunity to get training and meet many clinicians from other agencies and DCF workers from all over the state.
Pros
CEO is very experienced, Located in communities which need to be served., Agency is growing.
Cons
Small offices., Sharing office space with Lawyers at one location., High turnover rate of Clinicians.
