Merchandise Associate in Pineville, NC

People you work with are great, but store typically understaffed
The people you work with day-to-day are great and genuinely friendly, but the place always seemed to be understaffed. You also often wonder what's going on at corporate in terms of directives, promotions, overall direction, etc. A lot of last-minute schedule changes, with cut hours common, but they were flexible on scheduling when asking if you can come in early the next day.

I have worked at several Belk stores. All they care about is you getting credits for Synchrony Bank. They low ball salary and do not pay out any PTO when you leave. The stores are glorified Walmart’s. Junk apparel.I have ptsd from all of the stuff I was put through. Managers that are literally crazy, mean coworkers, work holidays and night sometimes 9-11 days in a row. No weekends off, vacation is denied…. I could go on.

I worked at Belk for almost two years (starting in 2019) and it was okay at first. Really good if you’re looking for a first retail job but will kill a your drive very fast. I was always eager to work but the lack of guidance from managers and the amount of work (normally for 2+ people given to one employee) was often enough to make you want to quit. Pay was okay, I started at 10$ but with more people quitting and not enough employees, it was not worth it. Also hours are tricky because you either get 40+ or as little as 6hrs. The mall is also not growing so business is usually slow. Nowadays you’ll get thrown into random departments where you know little information and you won’t know your schedule for the next week until the day before. They also don’t really care what your job title is because if they need you to do something outside of your job description they’ll make you do it.

If you have ever worked for a big box retailer go work here. It’s a walk in the park! I love the sale sets and save the sales! Associates are friendly and non toxic.
Fulfillment Associate in Columbia, SC

Full time employee that barely gets hours. HR is bad with making schedules (speaking for me and my department). My department manager is a joy to work with/for.
