Low-pay, no room for advancement job
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Wakefield, RIFebruary 28, 2019
Really tried giving this place the benefit of the doubt, I've worked many part-time jobs as I am a college student, and no job has been as bad as this. Employees only get a 15 min break for a 7 hour shift (pretty sure this isn't legal per RI Dept. of Labor Laws). The closing duties are also ridiculous. God forbid you have coworkers that call out for a closing shift, good luck getting out in time. For the amount of work you do depending on the department you work in, these positions should AT LEAST start at $11/hr (Belmont pays min. wage). Shifts aren't flexible, and the only sort of perk you get as an employee is 2x the points on your shopper card. For being a supermarket, the rules that management makes you follow as an employee are ridiculous.
Pros
Double points on shopper card
Cons
Short breaks, low pay

Cashier/Customer Service (Current Employee) –  Wakefield, RIJanuary 3, 2019
Poorly managed. Nepotism to the extreme. No room for advancement. No perks/discounts. Lots of infighting and useless competition. Not allowed to take bathroom breaks. Fifteen minute break for 6 hour shift.

Not a bad place. Depends on your department. Management can be really tough to deal with depending on the department you are in. Young work crowd as it is in a college area

Nice, friendly co-workers. Poor management and training in front end.
Bagger, cashier (Former Employee) –  Wakefield, RIJuly 20, 2018
Fast-paced and stressful conditions compounded by lack of direction and communication from management. Lack of proper training for front end employees. Trainers often lack knowledge of and/or proper operation of equipment. Inconsistent and contradictory direction from front end management. No effort made by management to respond to complaints of inappropriate conduct of some co-workers.
Pros
customer contact
Cons
Very short breaks;

Produce Clerk (Current Employee) –  Wakefield, RIMay 9, 2018
The hours were very flexible for those attending school, working second jobs, or balancing other life situations. The management was down to Earth and did everything in their power to ensure a positive and relaxed environment for both workers and customers.

Not the best managers working the floors
Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) –  Wakefield, RIApril 17, 2017
I worked here for just about two years, front end dept cashiering and even in customer service for a while. Working with the other cashiers was great, and the baggers are all so sweet. So are most of the CSR's, however the managers are terrible at communicating with you and are hard to contact more often than not. I went a full five weeks relieving no hours and not even a call back, and was previously reprimanded for being in the hospital for too long because my health problems were an inconvenience to them. The managers of other departments are cool, I ended up switching depts and still work there seasonally, but DO NOT work in the front end. They don't take their jobs seriously, and the owner of the store doesn't even care!
Pros
Nice people to work with
Cons
Lack of hours, no benefits, terrible management.

Service Clerk (Former Employee) –  Wakefield, RIOctober 7, 2015
It was a nice place to work with people who are enjoyable to be around. The best part was that the co-workers were great to work with and talk to, as well as the customers who come in to shop.

Delicatessen operator (Former Employee) –  Kingstown, RIMay 27, 2014
The work was east enough. Morning shifts on weekends are very busy. I learned how to operate a meat slicer and how to describe many different kinds of deli meats and cheeses. Co-workers were very nice and fun to hang around. The hardest part of the job was trying to get the slice "just right" for the pickier customers.
