Productive and Beneficial
Research Scientist (Current Employee) –  Miami, FLApril 22, 2019
This review is related to the research department, not the production department.

If you are not motivated or have the ability to be a self-starter, Beta is not the place for you. In R&D, we have the opportunity to design and complete independent research projects that help to better Beta as a company and offer more services. These projects are collaborative, but also in large part driven by the primary researcher, and are very helpful in fostering positive work ethic and skills. I have the ability to come to work every day and actually learn something new through an experiment of my own design.

The people are great and the company is very good at what they do. That being said, you will be asked to work to the best of your ability, and sometimes that may require working beyond the standard 9-5. Beta isn't your standard 9-5 company- the culture is unique and so are the people. It takes some time to settle in, but is worth it in the end.

The salary is also very competitive, especially when compared to other laboratories, and the health insurance coverage is top notch.
Pros
Good salary, benefits, opportunities to learn
Cons
Need time to settle in

Poor management.
Associate Technician I (Former Employee) –  Miami, FLFebruary 27, 2018
The job in the beginning is great. You are doing important work and you feel a sense of accomplishment. Unfortunately since all the lead tacticians receive an monthly bonus based on the number of samples through the door they work their subordinates like work horses. The tacticians are a terrible clique not being supervised by any managers so if they decide they do not like you then they will band together to make your time there difficult. Human resources says this this the "culture" at Beta, a culture I am not interested in being a part of.

overtime

Failed attempt at a potentially stable job
Associate Technician I (Current Employee) –  Miami, FLJanuary 14, 2018
Interesting laboratory job which should be used temporarily for work experience, overtime pay and whatever you can take advantage of. Lack of room for advancement, regardless of constantly showing strong work ethic, interest in learning new techniques, and working several years in the company. Inadequate managerial staff who lack respect for fellow employees. Absence of increase of pay. Overtime hours are appreciated but become mandatory and excessive during certain times of the year.
Pros
Healthcare, overtime
Cons
Periodic extensive work hours, schedule, lack of room for advancement

more like a factory instead of a laboratory
Associate Lab Technician (Current Employee) –  Miami, FLOctober 28, 2016
management loves to think they are right, even when they are wrong. they belittle your ideas because they want to be the only ones with ideas. production is more important than anything else, including your well-being. management constantly changing its mind and switching things around for no reason. logic is out of the window. supervisors are more like tattlers who run to the president of the company to tell on you rather than people you can count on to help you. mandatory 10 hour days M-F and half days on saturday or sunday. you will be at work more than you will see your family or friends. pay is not enough for the amount of work put in and the company does not offer insurance, retirement, etc. no room for promotions because president does not want "anymore managers" so you will always be stuck where you are.
Pros
unlimited overtime
Cons
seems more like a factory job, nonstop, all day every day
