Poor management,High turnover,Benefits are horrible, No raises
Medical Receptionist (Former Employee) –  Spotsylvania County, VAJuly 29, 2019
Working for this company was alright at first, but everything has slowly gone downhill. The new manager is incompetent, lacks experience and has poor communication with the employees if she even bothers to acknowledge you or show up at all! This company could be great but they continue to hire management that has no idea what there doing and let go of great employees!
Employees are scheduled to work 12 hour shifts which is normal , but then a half hour lunch is taken out of your check whether you get lunch or not.
Patients always compliment the staff, how clean it is and how friendly everyone is , but this will soon change. New management is running all the good employees out and most employees are already looking for a better place to work.
If you have children this is definitely not the job for you as it is a no call out policy no matter what and at times staff is unwilling or unable to switch shifts with you.
Pay is okay but even if you have a review , you probably are not going to get a raise so your are pretty much stuck at a set rate FOREVER!
Best thing I have ever done for my career is leaving this toxic work environment, should have done it months ago.
Employees will leave a toxic work environment where they are underappreciated and know more than management.
Overall the staff is great! The billing manager is awesome never been an issue there!

Great concept with the potential to be a good company but is failing due to poor management and employee disregard.
Healthcare worker (Current Employee) –  Fredericksburg, VAJune 30, 2019
Every single location in this company has employee retention rate issues, and therefore overworked staff. Often times staff is bribed to work copious amounts of overtime, or simply left with no choice but forced into overtime shifts. Overall under appreciation for staff. Employees are often disregarded during periods of inclement weather and when the clinic has to close due to flooding or power outages. Employees are expected to remain on call during these periods, and to show back up to work at the drop of a message, but are unpaid for their on call time. Pizza is often given as a way to say “thanks” at all locations, because that’s what we all want in a work place.

Employee opinion is never taken into consideration and decisions are done at the management discretion only.

Employees always work 12 hr shifts, which is typical for healthcare, but a half hour unpaid lunch break is taken out daily. However, employees are not allowed to leave the site, and if there are patients in the clinic all day, you’re essentially being unpaid for 30 minutes regardless.

Benefits are decent. However, though PTO is awarded, its impossible to use any PTO due to short staffing. PTO cannot be taken on top of your regularly week schedule to prevent having to pay out in overtime, so employees often lose DOZENS of hours in PTO per year, and they refuse to simply pay it out.

Management also changes as common as staff... four site managers in a single year of employment, and two COOs.

Patients always rave about how clean the facility is and how nice/friendly the staff is, but this
more... will quickly change. Unhappy staff is not productive staff.  less

Better what?
X-ray tech (Former Employee) –  Ashland, VAApril 9, 2019
Loyalty and experience means nothing to this company.

Be weary of so many job postings and sign on bonus...there is a reason why that is.

Employee's of all types are leaving left and right. Proceed with caution.

I would not recommend this company to any of my friends. You are overworked and underpaid. Working with a skeleton crew makes it hard on employees and management does not care as long as it cuts costs. I honestly don't think they realize that their revenue comes from those of us actually touching patients, not sitting in an office.

Unhappy staff = unhappy patients = bad business

Just a tip: treat your current employees well and you won't have to worry about hiring others

Crew Member (Current Employee) –  Prince George, VAApril 9, 2019
BetterMed was a great place to work until management changed. The new COO and site manager is slowly destroying BetterMed as a company because they are trying to stick to a "budget" and cut corners and cut back on staff but don't want to pay employees more even though they are doing the job of two people!! The higher up's care more about their paychecks than the sanity of their own employees that are the ones busting their butt every day to make them money. Save your time and don't even apply here. You will hate it.
Pros
Nice coworkers, team effort from clinical staff
Cons
poor management, short breaks, stressful, low salary

Flexibility. Considering a reported 43 per cent of employees would choose flex hours over a pay raise, it's definitely a coveted perk. ...
