596 questions about working at Big Lots
Literally nothing. Speaking as a manager the company runs its stores like a sweatshop. I have been unable to take any vacation time in two years. It is impossible to hire people with the terrible starting rate they offer. Rarely does anyone get a raise beyond 50 cents annually. If you love yourself do NOT work at big lots

15 to 20 cents every year. (That's it) depending on your yearly review.

I worked at my local big lots for 6 months, and quit for several reasons. one of the reasons being the hours. i was guaranteed at least 10 hours a week with promised opportunities to pick up more, but was consistently scheduled for 4 hours a week and only being offered extra shifts a couple times a month.basically, if you're looking at this and wanting to get a job at big lots, i wouldn't recommend it.
Answered June 14, 2016
The setback is the managers are given a certain amount of aloted hours for scheduling and they get big bonuses if they don't go over those hours when making the schedule every week and for other things too but mainly the scheduling. So of course they are going to make sure they don't go over the aloted hours when they are getting a couple hundred dollar bonuses.
