Advanced Patient Care Associate (Current Employee) - Tacoma, WA - November 30, 2023
Emergency veterinary medicine is not for the feint of heart. This location has had its upside and downs but overall is pays a fair wage, give great benefits and works to help their staff grow within the field.

Areas for improvement

Toxic from the top on down
Referral Coordinator (Former Employee) - Seattle, WA - November 27, 2023
Wage freeze for 4 years due to the N. Seattle location starting a union. MARS/BluePearl spent a lot of time fighting any contract negotiations and the location ultimately shuttered during the pandemic. Couldn't keep staff to run the ER and eventually all the specialists left. Revolving door of practice managers. Lots of promises made and broken, but hey, free lunches every couple of weeks to make up for poverty wages and a toxic work environment. I mean pizza keeps workers happy, right?

Overall fine but...
Client Services Manager (Current Employee) - Brandon, FL - November 22, 2023
Working as a client service manager for BluePearl has its pros and cons. Pros are the actual business itself and benefits are pretty great and you know the company is staying around a while so it feels secure. Cons are little to no support from your line managers, hostile work environments where most of the team is beyond miserable, unfair favoritism, etc.

Patient Care Coordinator (Current Employee) - Kirkland, WA - November 20, 2023
corporate drama reigns over all, the closer you get with them the better off you'll be-which no decent person can stomach. All about numbers and production and the team and clients end up suffereing while managment shoves the lies down everyone's throat for cash...

draining, short staffed
Vet Tech (Former Employee) - Clearwater, FL - November 16, 2023
always short staffed, even when management proclaims staff needs are where they should be. employees cannot provide remarkable care for pets if the employees are stretched too thin for the workload demands.

Wonderful team
Customer Care Coordinator (Former Employee) - Remote - November 15, 2023
The co-workers make this one of the best decisions I ever made. The pay was not the greatest considering the amount of work being done but the culture made up for some of it.

Client Service Representative (Former Employee) - Ann Arbor, MI - November 5, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The staff. All of the staff here in the Ann Arbor location at least. Are team players and get the job done! What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The HIGH VOLUME of calls and the emotional nature of owners with sick pets. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very understaffed, but we make it work. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Lots of paperwork, scheduling, coordinating ER and speciality appointments, lots of talking to clients, maintenance cleaning of space

Jobs at BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital
Go somewhere better!
Veterinary Technician (Former Employee) - Summerville, SC - November 2, 2023
This location specifically has no opportunity’s for advancement, little to no leeway to advance or practice skills. Management is not helpful in any way. Staff turnover is high because the company treats its staff so poorly. Benefits are okay, but livable wages were nonexistent.

Productive workplace
Veterinary Assistant (Former Employee) - Paramus, NJ - November 1, 2023
I worked in the ER as a veterinary assistant and I loved it. Everyone was nice and helpful and shared a common goal which was the welfare of animals and client education. There was a leveling system in place to get promoted from your position to the next level which helped everyone to get the position they want and deserved.

Meh
CSC (Former Employee) - Philadelphia, PA - October 18, 2023
Cliques and petty people. Decent pay and opportunity for advancement if they like you. You can move up the ranks if you play it right and are nice to the right people. If you’re too old or not in with the cool kids forget any advanc.

Not bad at first
Kennel Assistant (Former Employee) - Washington State - October 15, 2023
The job itself isn't too bad if you know what your getting into. The management is on a down slide and the benefits seem to be shrinking as time goes on.
Pros
decent pay and ability to learn.
Cons
poor benefits and difficult management

Very Toxic Work Environment
Employee (Former Employee) - Tampa, FL - October 11, 2023
If you're new or newer to the field, then run. Don't walk. The pay is decent, and the benefits are good, but they do not make up for the strong desire to leave every day you show up. This isn't even because of some of the depressing cases you see; those were expected. Management is awful, and nobody is willing to train you. Even the specialized 'training' staff doesn't provide sufficient one-on-one training. This is unbelievable considering this hospital is a training hospital. They'll allocate an hour for you to train a skill you openly asked to work on (in my case 2 weeks later), expecting magical opportunities to come within that hour. However, this rarely happens, as all the great learning opportunities are quickly taken by experienced staff. They have an anti-nepotism policy which is a joke and clearly ignored. Most employees are toxic and pretend you don't exist if you don't "vibe" with them. This same toxicity extends to some supervisors and some doctors as well. Not to mention, it's very clique-y. The final straw was when I brought up issues to management, and they were ignored. I was then told to 'solve my own problems.' After doing so, I was reprimanded for attempting to solve the very issues I brought to their attention.
Pros
Decent pay. good benefits.
Cons
Toxic work environment.

Most toxic work environment I’ve ever worked in!!!
Veterinary Technician (Former Employee) - Spring, TX - October 9, 2023
The culture here is infiltrated with toxicity and favoritism. Be prepared to have your mental health greatly affected unless you enjoy people being hateful and gossiping non-stop all day every day.

Good company but poor management
Veterinary Assistant (Former Employee) - Grand Rapids, MI - October 8, 2023
I liked working at Blue Pearl. There was a lot left to be desired as far as communication between management and staff. There were also a few bad seeds on staff that liked to talk down to people. That's any job though unfortunately.
Pros
Working with animals
Cons
Poor management, no training system

High stress, short staffed
CSC (Former Employee) - Pittsburgh, PA - October 5, 2023
I had a love/hate for working here. Loved working with animals. Dealing with the pet owners can be really tough, especially in the ER where emotions run high. Loved my schedule. Hated that we were always short staffed, made it hard to keep new hires because new hires would get overwhelmed and quit.

Always short staffed
Veterinary Technician (Former Employee) - Renton, WA - October 2, 2023
Perpetually short staffed and underpaid. I worked here for years hoping it would get better but it didn't. Management is out of touch or just does what they want regardless of the employees.

Overwhelming and toxic.
Veterinary Assistant (Former Employee) - Kirkland, WA - September 27, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Helping the animals and learning so much. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Management doesn’t help at all you are constantly short staffed but also told to cut hours and give the best possible care to 7 patients at one time What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It reminds me of being back in high school very petty and there was always drama between the specialties. Most of the problems could have avoided if people just talked to each instead of going directly to management.
