Beaurocratic mess, some interesting projects, behind in technologies
Software Engineer (Current Employee) –  Everett, WAAugust 27, 2017
Not much support for career development for engineers. Management out of touch, hands off and do not want to support. Dated/backwards IT policies and computing resources, out of date software etc. Treated just as another cog in the machine. Lots of stovepipe organizations and red-tape, waste more time and money in endless meeting cycles, far too many layers of approval.
Pros
Good engineering teams, some interesting projects
Cons
No support, no opportunity for career growth, red-tape, lack of resources

Your life's work will be done here
SOFTWARE ENGINEER (Current Employee) –  St. Louis, MOAugust 25, 2017
It's a rare opportunity coming across a job where you don't look for other jobs. Boeing is the end of the job search. A place where your life's work will be accomplished and, if you're willing to, you can really contribute something to humanity here. Your small part will help propel technology into the next era, whatever that may be.
Pros
Good pay, Chill bosses, open to new ideas, flex time
Cons
mediocre bonuses, not much room for creativity

Cool stuff to work on
Software Engineer (Former Employee) –  St. Louis, MOAugust 23, 2017
Pros: Lots of fun people to work with, cool projects to work on.

Cons: Moved kind of slow. It was hard to advance faster than normal because they have specific systems for raises. Working in a closed program felt like working inside of a prison because of the secrecy/lack of windows.

Decent Workplace
Software Engineer (Current Employee) –  Berkeley, MOJuly 15, 2017
In my experience, The Boeing Company has a decent work environment. There are opportunities for advancement, but they seem few and far between. Pay is lackluster but coworkers and managers are friendly enough. Overtime is not required except in extenuating circumstances.

This was a good company to work for. The benefits are top. One small problem is that you get locked in to some jobs and limited to more diverse jobs.

The military division can have management issues.
Software Engineer (Former Employee) –  Seattle, WAJanuary 26, 2017
We were part of a small crew loaned to a different branch of Boeing with a large project.

They were attempting to develop in Ada using FORTRAN design standards. It didn't work well.

Good place to work
787 Airplane Development Quality Engineer Manager (Current Employee) –  Everett, WAJanuary 12, 2017
Boeing is a pretty good place to work. It is a massive company so you can get lost in it, but it also does have great opportunities for growth. Salary is ok but the benefits are second to none. Also it fall victim to the big company bureaucracy and lacks innovation. That being said I like working at Boeing.

Boeing benefits better than average.
Software Engineer (Current Employee) –  Berkeley Heights, NJDecember 15, 2016
Boeing Healthcare benefits are better than average. For a single employee coverage, there is no cost to the employee. Family coverage is more reasonable compared to other companies.

Descent amount of red tape and politics, but this is expected of a big company. Opportunities to move up are available but will require you to move.

good place to work with good healthcare benefit
Software Engineer I (Former Employee) –  Mesa, AZJuly 27, 2015
Boeing mesa was a good place to work with good benefits. however, much to my surprised, the new management team had turn this place upside down. New policies are in place to replace 90% of well-trained staff members into outsource, contracted work without providing benefits. This was not the place it was 23 years ago when I first started working there.

I can’t think of the pros in working here in the past two years. Very happy to have resigned from Boeing. Most companies often take pride in educating employees, and cultivating a positive environment for employees while building positivity. To promote productivity and team building, instead Boeing in Mesa had cultivate negativity and even hatred amongst employees. I feel that Boeing is on the path of disrespect, having disgruntled employees makes future operations much harder. Other words, it is their bad relationship with employees that caused some of their problems in the first place.
Pros
good healthcare benefit
Cons
Too much favoritism and no room to growth, bad managements

High tech, high pay, high stress at times
Embedded Software Engineer (Former Employee) –  Huntington Beach, CaJuly 24, 2015
Worked for Boeing over 20 years, always interesting work, decent office spaces and facilities. Heavy use of computer skille and knowledge an absolute must. Company culture is honest, but very lean and hard working. Did the job myself that would be 5 people other places. Nice is you can handle busy and fast-paced environment.
Pros
Big company, lots of diversity, interesting work
Cons
Heavy workload

The Boeing Company gives great opportunities to travel and learn
Software Engineer (Former Employee) –  HoustonJuly 15, 2015
Work days were varied from hectic and chaotic to lulls of waiting as experienced for many large projects in major companies.
Worked within my organization to develop and maintain skills to be assessed as a highly effective team member.
Supported outside organizations to work with new hires that allowed me to share my unique experiences in the 24 years.
Hardest part of job was culture in the local office not as inclusive and experienced in offices across the country.
Pros
Large company with many opportunities to try new tasks.
Cons
Local office working with only one customer.

Not a place for anyone w/ an IT background, unless you're a contractor.
Software Programmer/Analyst 4 (Former Employee) –  Seattle, WAApril 9, 2015
Was a great company, until they decided the pension plan was too expensive and management decided to get rid of life-time employees w/ years of experience. This was a bad idea in the 90's, when Boeing offered a retirement package that was to good to be true. The brains and tribal knowledge walked out the door and the CEO admitted it was a mistake.

Well they're destine to repeat the same mistake, and they have...

Many job opportunities are available within the company at local and different sites. Most projects are involve interesting products and provide good work. However, due to a workforce that is overbalanced towards the senior side, promotions are nearly impossible to come by.
Pros
Great Work/Life balance, Fun Projects
Cons
Currently little room for advacement with extremely senior workforce
