They used to be pretty good
Office (Former Employee) –  West Mifflin, PAApril 2, 2019
Times change, and so did Bombardier. It is unfortunate as they used to be a great place to work. But, like many companies, they moved their US operations to China.

Casual Management
ITC Engineer/Manager - MTA PTC Project (Former Employee) –  New York, NYApril 1, 2019
Field management and Project Engineer are totally divorced from the field. They ignored the day to day of every employee and the amount of work required, tools needed, physical locations, systems to interface, etc. All these were not their concern.
There was a lot of improvisation and testing had to "find" the right procedure "in-situ." Vendor relations and customer relations were directly reflected on the field. Every day testing was made not in a friendly atmosphere.
Pros
Possibility to work from home while producing reports
Cons
No logistical support

Worst Management Ever !
Lead Machinist (Former Employee) –  Brunswick, MDMarch 26, 2019
There was a lot of scandals involving managers. Managers play favorites and only hire friends, and other colleagues for management roles. High turn-over rate, even amongst managers who try to do the right thing. The General Manager and those close to him are a real butt wipe ! They have no regard for Union rules or policies. Most managers have NO idea of how to do the work that needs to be done daily resulting in many directions to do things the wrong way !
Pros
Good Pay, but only because of the Union !
Cons
Lousy management !

WorkDay
NA (Current Employee) –  Pittsburgh, PAMarch 15, 2019
Very hectic and un organized management. People are not well trained because only a few people are and do not have time in there day to show new employees the correct way to do things. Many of the managers are not trained in there positions to be able to handle what there employees do on a day to day basis.

This was a contract job so to sume it up. I liked working there the hours were hard to deal with and being away from my family. Working sometimes 7 days a week was hard. Then there was the 10 hour drive to come home every week to see the wife and kids

Software Engineer at Bombardier
Software Engineer (Current Employee) –  Pittsburgh, PAJanuary 30, 2019
Usually a typical day at work consist of keep in communication and coordinating with the Project Engineer and Manager to better allocate efforts to resolve any pending project related issues for any of the simulator products that need to be kept running smoothly and efficiently.

Each week we have a team meeting to follow up on said coordination and if a work load is too much for one person, 2 or more people will have coordinate to get the job done.

The work schedule is very flexible and sometimes we are allowed to work from home since we can call in to meetings and/or remote connect to computer labs to test/trouble shoot software for subsystem testing.

Management is very helpful in better allocating hours to meet project specific deadlines.
Pros
Flexible Schedule, good work atmosphere
Cons
Benefits, limited resources

My first manager was great to work for. As things change in the plant jobs and responsibilities tend to get reassigned. It was good job until layed offs.
