Flat org makes it hard to move up
Global Marketing Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Boston, MAJanuary 19, 2019
As someone who had many different admin roles (i.e., not on a consulting track) jobs at this company can go very well for the right person - particularly someone who will work hard and not expect advancement right away. Company benefits are best-in-class so that's a plus as well.

I eventually left because I found it was going to be hard to move into a management role - org is very flat for those on the admin side.

Lacking career advancement on the Function side
Client Service Assistant (CSA) (Current Employee) –  New York, NYJanuary 8, 2019
Great place for consultants, but severely lacking career advancement on the Function side. There is no clear path, and if you want a management position, most likely, someone from the consulting side will take it from under you.

ADMINITRATIVE ASSISTANT (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GADecember 12, 2018
normal 8 hour day, I never took work home with me
Not much room for careeradvancement in admin role. I have executive level admin assistance experience, but took this job due to a move in hopes of quickly finding and EA role here, never happened.

Consultant (Former Employee) –  USOctober 7, 2018
This is a place where politics drive everything, not intelligence nor performance, to the contrary of what's typically said. Harassment (yes Harassment in every form) is constant and obvious in so many ways. Though people do not report it and colleagues ignore it because they know HR will not help, to the contrary, they will take whatever it is needed to protect the good name of the company (well I guess that true in most companies anyway). The difference at BCG and other companies is that if you bring ANY type of issue to management or HR you can be certain they will retaliate, sooner or later, sometimes much later, which almost always end with a departure, voluntary or non-voluntary (lack of promotion for many years along the way...). Every employee that has been at BCG for more than couple months know this, it's no secret, this is why anyone is extremely reluctant to report anything or to corroborate colleagues' abuses.
Why is BCG always so well rated, one would ask? Because they made you sign a few contracts from the day you start to the day you leave to not -EVER- disclose anything negative to the world about them. And of course, no one wants to have to deal legally with such powerful company (even attorneys are reluctant to take cases)... So, this leaves us with only people that had a good experience (BCG pays well and having BCG on your resume never hurts of course), because yes, there are some of course. BCG is such a big employment manufacturer; they hire and fire thousands of people every year (it is a small company- keep that in mind), in fact, that's all they
more... really do, they train people -well indeed- and ask them to spread the word around on how good they are.

In the real world, outside this obnoxious, pretentious top consulting boys club, no one really can explain what added value BCG brings to the world.

Fantastic place to start your career
Summer Consultant (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXSeptember 21, 2018
BCG is full of brilliant people. It is such a great environment to start your career and to get exposure to a lot of the best / largest companies around the world. You will be working in small teams to solve some of the toughest problems out there.

They are very analytical and data driven in their problem solving. They have a phenomenal development approach which helps you to grow and improve.

You do travel a lot and work very long hours -- you have to deliver to the clients. But you will learn a tremendous amount.
Pros
Brilliant people, solving the most complex business problems
Cons
Lots of travel, very intense and demanding

The people make this company!
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJuly 30, 2018
BCG was the best company I've ever worked for. Although it's a huge corporation, it is filled with friendly and interesting, high-achieving individuals who are typically very down-to-earth. Working for BCG can spoil you quickly as it comes with tons of exciting perks (ie. near-weekly events with free food and booze, extravagant holiday parties and summer retreats, countless employee discounts, etc).
Pros
Some of the best benefits in the country, countless employee perks, good pay structure, awesome people
Cons
Hard to advance when you're on the operations side of the business, work/life balance can be rough at times, can also be very stressful due to a large workload

I was only there for 14 days. Not there long enough to base any kind of opinion. They appear to be a good company with very nice people.
I would work for them again if the opportunity rose.
