Free breakfast and dinner for afternoon and overnights workers

Residential Counselor (Former Employee) –  Randolph, MAMarch 20, 2018
Great work place for beginners. I worked the overnight shift, and in addition to keeping awake, the supervisors were sort of witch-hunting the staff members.
Pros
Free meals when you are on shift
Cons
short breaks and witch-hunting by some supervisors

Rewarding career in teaching
Residential Instructor (Former Employee) –  Randolph, MAApril 13, 2017
Working with autistic students can be challenging but rewarding. Boston Higashi is a leader in autism education and has proven results. There are many demands placed on residential staff, staff that are driven set strong guidelines and gain respect of the students are rewarded. Staff who do not have as strong a teaching style are often ignored.
Pros
Free Lunches, community trips, good health plan, vacations, overtime
Cons
Late breaks, not adjusting well to changes, lack of promotion

Incredibly Dangerous and Unorganized
Group Teacher (Former Employee) –  Randolph, MAMarch 20, 2017
Serious injuries occur frequently, with no plan to manage or stop student behaviors. Staff are over worked, under supported, and treated as if they are replaceable at any time.
Cons
Extremely aggressive students with no plan to block/protect staff/peers from aggressions

I would not recommend working or sending children to this place. They do not care about their staff members and do not follow up with complaints or concerns. they do not follow state regulations.

Executive Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Randolph, MAMarch 3, 2015
The positions at Higashi are all encompassing. You are expected to participate in all facets of the students learning and skill building experience whether you are an instructor or the janitor. The philosophy of Daily Life Therapy is one of helping the child be the best and most productive person they can be. All students are treated with respect and dignity and encouraged to project this in all they do. Staff put students first and are expected to perform at their personal best in their respected field.

Exciting yet energetic
Classroom Teacher (Current Employee) –  Boston, MASeptember 10, 2014
Intensive and exciting workplace. Requires a lot of patience to fully experience the joy of working with students with autism.
School day starts with presentation of the day's schedule. Jogging and exercise is an integral part of Boston Higashi school. Colleagues are loving, caring and truly dedicated.
The hardest part of the job is having to de-escalate a violent and dangerous situation involving a student.
Pros
sports day
Cons
tantruming students during large event

School Nurse (Current Employee) –  Randolph, MAJuly 16, 2014
A good environment for autistic children, nurturing, productive and encouraging. A typical day usually entails passing medications, interacting with students and doing assessments. The hardest part of the job is when any student is experiencing difficulties, the most enjoyable is resolving them.

Very tough place to work, little respect for employees and difficult students
Residential Instructor (Former Employee) –  Randolph, MAMay 6, 2014
The worst shift is the overnight job at the residential facility. Staffs are forced to keep awake till morning. Cameras are hanged at every corner of the floor. Very difficult to manage personal life and work. Manager can change your shift schedule at anytime to what pleases him.
Pros
Free breakfast, clean environment, diversity at workplace
Cons
Rude supervisors, tough job description

Very fulfilling teaching learners across the Autism Spectrum Disorder especially the effort the learners put and the skills they achieve.
Residential Teacher (Former Employee) –  Randolph, MAJune 8, 2013
I taught learners from ages 3-22 both boys and girls and the experience was awesome. The students join the school with very varying behavioral problems and very low skill levels especially the daily life skills but the level of independence that they have after an year or so, its unbelievable. The staff work so hard and the philosophy of the school is very unique and challenging to the learners but they achieve a lot through the program. I learnt to be patient and to take every child as unique and strong n their own way.
Pros
multicultural setting, health benefits
Cons
rigidity of the program
