Hi, I am curious about working as a family assistant. I have a good grasp of the hours-but what are living conditions like? Does a family assistant have their own bedroom and bathroom? Who pays for groceries and how are cooking responsibilities shared? Thank you for your help!

The living conditions are probably better than you're expecting. Assistant Family teachers have their own bed and a "staff" bathroom that may or may not be used by one of the youth in the home because it's adjacent to their room. Each home has its own budget to buy groceries and you, as staff, would be responsible for dinner. The goal is to help the youth learn the independent living skill of cooking but you are the adult so the responsibility would fall on you to make sure it happens. Every night, a youth in the home has a cool night and you would help that youth with the meal for the night.
