Coach in Oklahoma City, OK

Kindhearted management, with some crazy kids
I loved working this job, but it was a little stressful at times. Most of the time the children where fun to work with, but when there was a behavioral issue, there was no direction on how to handle it. For the most part, I loved the people involved, and trying to make someone's life better was a major plus.

Really rewarding work and interesting to learn. Everyday is a exciting and interactive working with the kids while helping them learn and grow their brain development

While at Brain Balance I was able to help many children however the franchised location I worked at was very disorganized and management had no idea what they were doing.
Program Coach/Academic Assessor in West Springfield, MA

I worked at Brain Balance as a coach from 2016-2018 until they closed their West Springfield location. Overall I loved my experience there. Everyone I worked with was so friendly, engaging, welcoming and supportive. I learned a lot of new interesting concepts there. The environment was overall pretty comfortable and peaceful, occasionally there was chaotic days but that's the nature of working with kids! The kids themselves were awesome, I occasionally still miss them. The only downside was the lack of opportunity for advancement. It was a part-time job with okay pay and not a ton of room for growth. However, at the time it was perfect for me because I gained the experience. There were cross-training opportunities which was a good bonus.

The pay is fair and the job itself is manageable, but the system they use to record data could be significantly improved. It was so hard trying to get everything recorded correctly on the IPad before the kids would move on to the next objective. Most of these kids have behavioral and cognitive disorders so it super stressful trying to manage both tasks. Also, you are given no direction on how to handle unfavorable behavior from the children. When things are fast they are too fast and when things are slow time just drags on. Definitely not my favorite job.
