BSI Americas
Operations Planner BSI (Current Employee) –  Herndon, VAJune 5, 2017
Poor management. Lack of communication between higher ups and worker bees. Number are more important than people. The amount of work that is expected doesn't match their salaries. The higher ups only see numbers and treat their employees unfairly.

IT Specialist (Former Employee) –  LondonJanuary 7, 2017
I joined the Group IT in this company with great expectations but in few months I could tell that this is not the right place for me. If you are a driven, open minded and improvement seeker IT specialist don't go there. however, If you know how to play the political game then you will definitely success in BSI.
The management general attitude is to reject any new technology, ideas or modern methodologies. The follow the oldest out dated management fashion and the employee is always constraint by inflexible work procedures. This has put many employees down; during 8 months 9 employees left Group IT only. HR team are absolutely useless, they always stand by management and never support the employee claims especially new starters.
The company offers great package of benefits, discounts and free activities to participate in. Co-workers were also very friendly.

The benefits are amazing! However, this is not a company to go to if you are looking for a good salary, a good work environment, job stability, or growth in your career. Typical day usually involves being thrown under the bus on a regular basis.

Managing the uncertainties of management and overall company direction is challenging
Account Manager (Current Employee) –  USOctober 9, 2013
I may be wrong, but I personally don’t think the salesforce should have been tied to arbitrary sales numbers that were associated to a geographic territory of states with little understanding and research conducted by management on the sales potential in each Account Manager's respective territory. As it’s not every day that companies need to a Notified Body unless they are ready to enter into the EU.

Most medical device companies are established and have obtained CE Marking services and are just seeking to add on new products to their existing CE certificate…same with ISO certification...QMS software...systems are already in place. Startups that require any of the above stated services are typically new business targets with very limited capital and decision-making is primarily based on budget and preparedness to the EU market.

Net new sales should be a smaller percentage of goals for Account Managers working in the Notified Body industry. Instead, management should welcome, encourage and allow Account Managers to utilize their strengths and competencies in account management, client services, and offer consultative aid to their existing clients. Management wants to position the Account Manager position as a "hunter" role but the reality is the company needs strong, stable "farmers" who can build upon existing clients.

The joy of executing one's capabilities well and being competent in having enough ongoing training on core Notified Body services is where Account Managers need the most development. The more a Notified Body organization re-invests in its salesforce
more... through training and adopting some of their ideas/recommendations is how long-term growth will occur for new and existing relationships.  less
Pros
4 weeks of paid vacation and working remotely a small percentage of time
Cons
base pay and commission structure not competitive, selling services with little to no training

Lame Management team with no concern for the employees
Senior Account Manager (Former Employee) –  Reston, VAMarch 17, 2012
Management runs a very dated business. The business is plan is ripped right out of the 1978 Xerox sales plan even though it 30 years later, and they dont' sell technology.

Established veterans are allowed to abuse and rip off other employees without penalty.

Working from home and vaction were lone bright spots.
Pros
working from home, vacation time galore
Cons
everything else, senior execs are lame
