Autonomy and variety of a small business, security and professionalism of a large business

The many long-term customers and employees of BPS says a lot about the company. They are very focused on both customer and employee satisfaction. The management has taken the process discipline from large businesses and streamlined it to give more autonomy to capable staff and focus more on results for the customer. The corporate culture emphasizes innovation and continuous improvement, providing ongoing opportunities to learn new things and take on new challenges.

Pros

Respect for technical staff, egalitarian culture, good pay, comprehensive benefits

Cons

You have to be comfortable performing a wide variety of tasks and dealing directly with customers

Worked there for a short period

The managers had issues with communication. They had no idea what some of the technical issues were and couldnt be reliable as a team member.They never had weekly reviews and fired people on the spot.

This review is factually incorrect and appears to have been written by someone who never was a BPS employee and/or was written about another company. Our managers are exceptionally technically knowledgeable about their projects, and in our 20 years in business we have never "fired people on the spot". Please see other reviews for a more accurate picture of BPS.

Great place to work!

Business Performance Systems is a highly diverse company. There is a good mix of people from different cultures, as well as a balance of males and females. The company culture is collaborative and focused on growth and mentoring. The leadership at BPS is fair and honest. The benefits package is very good, especially considering the size of the business.

Intellectually stimulating work place.

Best part of the job is that it is intellectually stimulating. Opinion on work place depends on individual interests, for me this is a challenging(in a good way) work place that teaches me new things everyday because all I am interested in is working and growing, rest of the things come later. Management strives to maintain a positive work environment.

Good place to work

Good place to work. People are very ethical and fair minded. The employers are technically well qualified and try to pick good people. I have heard other contracting teams on the project appreciate ability of this company to select well qualified team members.

Atmosphere of collaboration and respect.

Collaborative atmosphere, rather than competitive. Management and staff composed of knowledgeable, experienced, hard-working, respectful, and mutually supportive people. Work is both challenging and rewarding.

Great learning experience

It is a small company without much hierarchy and you have a lot of freedom in how you do your work. There is a lot of emphasis on learning and knowledge sharing. Although you are sometimes limited by the constraints set by the client you are working for, BPS does make up with the learning and work opportunities it provides for the employees.

Good team to work with

Good team to work with. We listen, support and help one another when needed. I learnt the value of peer reviews after joining this company. Management is easily approachable and responds well.

Solid fundamentals, but room for improvement

Pros: Management encourages and supports professional growth Overtime is rare and is paid Atmosphere is strictly cooperative, not competitive Work is usually interesting Office has plenty of snacks Cons: Telework opportunities are limited (currently 1 day per week) Schedule flexibility is limited (some flexibility to vary start/end by a few hours, but you still need to do 8 hours per day 5 days a week) Total leave time is low (15 total days of vacation and sick leave per year)

Bps is a great place to work

BPS is a great place to work. For a small business it has the professionalism and established processes one would expect from a large company. The best part of the job includes: Great clients, great pay, autonomy, good benefits, flexibility including teleworking, and an employer who truly does cares about the well being of employees.

BPS: An exceptional employer.

BPS is one of those rare places where what they say about their culture and management directly translates to reality. "Egalitarian" and "servant-leadership" and the like are often seen and used as attention-grabbing words by company's to market themselves - but in my experience have been and are the norm at BPS. Coming in with very limited experience in the federal IT professional services space I've been given the extraordinary opportunity to learn from 20+ year industry veterans and expand my professional capabilities. Not only are my background and professional skills utilized, but I'm entrusted with and offered the opportunity to broaden my knowledge, skills and abilities on a daily basis - from IT-project work to government contracting details and beyond. Every day I learn at least one if not many new things. Despite being a small company of less than 30 people, we operate with processes and tools found at large firms. The managing partners are fair, decent and overall good people with exceptional levels of intellectual horsepower as well as professional experience - to say the least it's a pleasure to have such smart people to work with and with sincere integrity, to boot.
