insurance is expensive and only offered to full-time employees. keep in mind you have to be hired full-time to qualify. Being part-time on paper while working full-time hours doesn't qualify you.

First, you have to work there a full year, then you have to pester them into honoring their "work for a year, automatic full-time" policy before you're offered the option to pay into their house insurance options. You have to pick and choose each and every type of coverage, but no one tells you when the applications are available and it's only for 2 weeks of the year.
