Great program/very long

The program was great. The only thing is I felt it was way to long for something that should be mastered in 6 month vs 2 years.I felt that having everyone take classes in a cohort to be very beneficial, because you not only have a group of ppl you become extremely close too you also get s good experience having to long term deal with personalities that you very well might not get along with andni believe it was a good way to have people with no job experience learn how to deal with this problem you may I counter in the work force but in school before your out there in the real world trying to help save lives

Financial aid, lots of other secondary programs including childcare available

Cons

Really long, not distributed evenly as in study work, no variety in teachers

Opportunity to learn and grow

Working here gave me a lot of opportunities to learn and grow. A lack of communication between departments sometimes made it difficult to provide information and help students accurately. Also, most staff is great but there are a few with personal communication issues that other staff tries to avoid if possible.

Friendly, helpful coworkers, good pay and benefits, meaningful work, and a good work environment.

There was a heavy workload in our department and often meeting one's personal daily goals was dependent upon a competent coworker downstream. I had a good, knowledgeable manager, who also retired last year. The culture in our department was, "work hard, play hard." For the most part we all got along and had monthly birthday potlucks which were organized by one or two coworkers. The most enjoyable parts of the job were the team going out for walks around our area of the campus during morning and afternoon breaks and helping someone get a check or something paid that they really needed but, for whatever reason, the ball was dropped somewhere along the way and receiving their gratitude.

Pros

The team, the boss, being a link in something that changes lives for the better, the compensation, the proximity to home.

Cons

Sometimes the narrow views of, the team concept, when the micro and not the macro vision takes control of some departments.

On a good day

On a good day, I register about ten new students for the college and help with barriers they've encountered. But in all honesty, I love working at Cabrillo College. I think it's a great place to grow, and there are some great people who will support you and cheer for you.

Could have been perfect, but it wasn't.

A typical day at work would include data entry, customer service for both faculty and students. The workplace culture is not that great in certain departments.The hardest part of the job was not receiving enough training. Although supervisors helped train, they did not give it their all in my opinion.

The benefits were great.

Cons

Outdated training manuals, what written material was provided was not thorough, Ones who have been there long can't seem to move to the present.

Good structure and professional individuals

Would apply to this location is a job happens to appear that fits. Only moving because of opportunity elsewhere but this place recognizes your hard work. Great staff and students.

A community of caring

Carrillo college is an excellent environment to work. There is a lot of work to keep you busy. The campus is beautiful, the people are amazing, and the cafeteria makes great vegan burritos.

Cabrillo has a beautiful and easily accessible campus with good biking, driving and bus options right at the welcome center steps.I’ve been taking classes here for various programs for 3 years now. Every staff member I have interacted with has been helpful, kind and knowledgeable!There are so many wonderful classes and great professors!Cabrillo is so much cheaper than a big university and offers excellent transfer opportunities!I definitely recommend looking at rate my professor when choosing classes as not every professor is incredible, however, I have never met a bad one.

Tutoring was fun because I was working with students my age

As a Cabrillo student I got the Tutoring job because my professor interviewed me and also due to the fact that I got an A in his Ochem class, he decided to appoint my as his assistant for class and also tutor for the class in the next semester.

I enjoyed working at Cabrillo for many reasons with the main one being the ability to support first generation students navigate their first year and connecting them with resources on campus for their success.

Positive Experience!

I really enjoyed the entire professional vibe that came with the job. I have a strong passion for theater and being around such talented pros made me so inspired to work my absolute hardest. It was such an immensely rewarding & inspiring experience.

Relaxed and supportive work enviornment, great professional growth

Cabrillo College makes education and personal growth a priority for all staff, student and the community. The organization is a very pleasant and supportive work environment both professional and relaxed at the same time. Its diverse environment creates a healthy culture with strong team support at all levels of staff and students.

Adjunct vs. Full-time

If you want part-time you will find many opportunities and the pay is great. If you want full-time but only adjunct positions are available make sure the department is growing, then full-time will open up

Fast paced but comfortable place to work

I enjoyed coming to work because of the people I interacted with. The tutoring center staff were great to work with. There was always something to do and it could be a fast paced environment to work in depending on the day.
