Good company. No security
Sales Representative (Former Employee) - Odessa, TX - February 24, 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedCactus is a good company that is very regimented in how it is run. The company has a definite pecking order, if your part of the chosen you are in for great opportunities. Due to the nature of the oil business there is no job security except for a select few employees.

Great company IF you can avoid working in Odessa
Field Service Technician II (Former Employee) - Odessa, TX - February 14, 2022
Great company to work for, even at the Odessa branch, if you're capable of keeping your head down and nose clean of the office politics. There's never any real interaction with management, actual management and not dispatch, unless you've worked with them at a previous wellhead company (which is always changing, considering they can't keep ANYONE at the Odessa branch for much longer than a year, dispatch included; except for a select handful). If you're able to do the job, there's plenty of hours to be had. Able to play the game of politics? Even more, easier, hours to be had. For the pay and the rotation? It's not the worst place on earth (unless you get attached to Odessa. Then it feels like you're living the show House Of Cards while trying to earn an honest wage at a blue collar job.)
Pros
schedule, ability to learn, more support from co-workers than management
Cons
Management, lack of support, your word carries no weight

Management
Assembly (Former Employee) - Williston, ND - January 8, 2022
There is one person in management that needs to be gone for it to be a great place. Sales needs new ppl as well. Co workers are decent ppl. Service ppl are not the brightest and are always complaining about the work they do.Decent benefits, the pay could be better and take care of the employees.
Pros
Co workers are cool
Cons
The General Manger sucks.

It’s a job, pays well but not a lot of sleep to be had. Gone from home 20 days at a time
Sr. Field Service Technician (Current Employee) - Hobbs, NM - December 12, 2021
Politics, politics, politics, plenty to go around would match that of D.C. Job is as safe as companies you work for will allow and culture the same. Make a lot of money with overtime and sleep very little. Will push you to your brink of max capacity as far work before punishing you by not working you if you complain of needing sleep. They are in it to make money and that they do not that they’ll share any with you. Bonus is around a thousand dollars a year and they act like it’s going to break them when one branch may pull in 12 million a month. You will have “work” acquaintances but nobody is your friend everyone is out for themselves as well as management don’t think differently. Pay averaged around 160-230 gross a year. Good Luck
Pros
Money
Cons
Management, inter office politics, lack of accountability, favoritism

Decent place to work until it slows down
Machinist (Former Employee) - Bossier City, LA - November 4, 2021
If the oil patch slows down they will dump 70 percent of their work force very quickly. They do not go off of any seniority. The pay is decent and it’s pretty laidback. Insurance is costly for a family.
Pros
Pay, work environment, and hours
Cons
Impossible to get on day shift

Very cliquey
Shop Foreman (Former Employee) - Odessa, TX - June 3, 2021
If you aren't someone's buddy, then good. You make any mistakes and they fire you on the spot. No warnings or anything just good ole termination. Management was subpar
Pros
Pay
Cons
Good ole boy system

Extremely short sighted, poor management
Service Technician (Current Employee) - Williston, ND - May 4, 2021
The management seems to have no foresight or concern about the overall success of the daily jobs. No appreciation for a job well done but quick and fast retribution for small mistakes. Expect to be on edge constantly about job security. One mistake and the head honcho will want you terminated. Expect to work with very few tools and/or basic safety equipment. Service success is based purely on good service techs who care about the customers and not on company policies or procedures. Sales staff in under staffed and over worked. No time or encouragement to procure new work.
Pros
Schedule and co-workers
Cons
Management

Service Team is great
Service Technician (Current Employee) - Williston, ND - April 7, 2021
Service succeeds in spite of management and sales. We rarely have adequate direction for what job we are going to do because the managers and sales are afraid to ask questions s of the customer.
Pros
Work schedule
Cons
Poorly managed

Great learning experience, with very knowledgeable people
Training Manager (Former Employee) - All - March 27, 2021
Cactus is one of the best companies I have ever worked for. The Management in most of their locations are very receptive and care about the employees as much as the company. There are a couple who think the companies money belongs to them and they cut corners on tooling and safety equipment. Over all its a great place to work. The upper management is always open to suggestions, comments, complements, and complaints. Most employees feel like they are part of a family not just a company or just a job.
Pros
Possibility of advancement with great pay
Cons
Lazy coworkers

You work a lot hours
Field Serviceman/Crane Operator (Former Employee) - Fort Lupton, CO - March 24, 2021
Oil field job. You need to be on call and work a least 100 hours a week. Time off when ever there is time. Sometimes you need to go out town and stay away from home.
Pros
Good money and benefits
Cons
No family time

If you like a knife in your back work here,
Service Technician 3 senior service (Former Employee) - Williston, ND - February 28, 2021
Was compensated rather well, worked for other branch's in the company and it was a fantastic place to work. But the North Dakota branch is one of the worst places to be employed, they make you buy your own tools, then keep them when your let go. They Don't provide you with any tools and little to no training, Be warry of who you talk to everyone is an enemy and wont think twice about destroying your reputation. Work anywhere else for the company and enjoy your life stay away from the snake pit of North Dakota. Cactus is a fantastic company though.
Pros
Pay
Cons
To many to count

Rewarding
Machinist (Former Employee) - Bossier City, LA - January 26, 2021
Very rewarding and enjoyable. Oil is a very volatile business so you need to know what you are getting into. Bit the company overall is very financially stable.

Good pay and benefits but no job security!
Shipping and Receiving (Former Employee) - Oklahoma City, OK - December 15, 2020
Worked there for almost 2 years, offered a lot of hours and made great pay but worked 80+hrs a week, hardly any home time. Management all about themselves and couldn’t care less about their employees just their own job titles. As with any oilfield job there is no security there. Loved my job and the people I worked with which is why I didn’t give less stars to this company.
Pros
Tons of overtime and great pay
Cons
Management is terrible/ very dirty job/ little home time

Overall a good job to have
Frac valve assembly (Former Employee) - Willis, TX - October 13, 2020
Work hours can fluctuate and days can fluctuate. Intense work but gives you a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day if you have the ability to see things that way. Little advancement but great knowledge to have in the field of this type of work.
