Senior Community Manager (Remote) (Former Employee) – New York, NY – February 2, 2017
I really loved working for CafeMedia for the 6+ years I was there. There's a lot of love and flexibility for parents within the company, great benefits, and wonderful relationships formed among team members. The hardest part of the job was trying to keep online forums growing and moving forward in an ever-changing digital world. The most enjoyable part was team conference calls and meetings where we could talk, laugh, brainstorm, and connect.

CafeMedia has the friendliest office culture and the most comprehensive benefits package of anywhere I've been employed, but the department I worked for was continually plagued by poor management, firings, and abrupt "restructuring" layoffs, the latter of which was what eventually terminated my position there. I'm sure it's still a great place to work in other departments, but I would not recommend this company to anyone seeking a job in editorial.
Free bagels and pizza every other week, office happy hours, fun atmosphere, excellent vacation day policy, overall pro-woman vibe
Management was never around, poorly organized hierarchy in editorial, several rounds of sudden layoffs
