It pays well, but at the price of your emotional well being. Its very hierarchical and people get off on power trips based on seniority. The closer you are to upper management the better your odds.

Executive Assistant to the VP/COO (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAJune 22, 2014
It is a great environment to learn and interact with the community. It is not a typical not profit, it is more professional and it is a private organization.

Prospect Research Manager/Manager, Development (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAMay 7, 2012
CCF is a strong institution and has been in existence since 1915. They do amazing work in the Los Angeles Community to support non-profit programs. CCF is a wonderful learning ground to gain knowledge of the non-profit experience. They hire people who are committed to helping to build stronger communities. My co-workers were of the highest caliber with strong work ethics. The hardest part of the job is that the need is so great and there are not enough hours in the day. It was a joy to hear the many stories of CCF's impact on various Los Angeles communities. It was a great feeling of everyone working together for the common good.
Pros
great benefits for employees
Cons
tremendous amount of work and not enough employees
