Its extremely fast pace, and hard work, you have to wake up early every day and follow directions to the point. There is no room for mistakes, make sure you come prepared.

Fast paced, stressful

Law Enforcement is a very fast paced stressfull career. You must be prepared to expect anything to occur during your shift and this may extend your shift. It is a very rewarding career; however this is not a job for someone who hesitates in decision making.

Cadet

Hard and very competitive, for the strong honest people that do not lie, steal, or cheat. CHP is amazing and I have high respect for the officers.

The academy is like any other. They break you down but then slowly start to bring you back up. Be thankful for the people you meet while your there, they will help you in any way they can.

Fast paced and structured academy

Every day was filled with learning and training. Days were long but went by very fast. I learned a lot in my 20 weeks there about being a peace officer. I really enjoyed getting to know all of my fellow cadets. The hardest part of the job was being away for five months, and the grueling schedule. I really enjoyed the challenge of learning something new every day and being challenged mentally and physically.

Pros

great career, benefits, and retirement.

Cons

being a live in academy.

Great place to work.

Work day was long, began the training. Co-workers were all great people. Hardest part was being away from family for the whole week. The pay was the enjoyable part of the job.

Pros

free breakfast, lunch and dinner, room, great pay.
