There are many good areas to work in this company. But there are also a couple that are poorly managed. If Caliva had a motto, it would be "Make it happen". You'll hear that phrase a lot working here. "Make it happen" with no resources, "make it happen" with no labor, "make it happen" with no time because its yet another last minute five alarm fire.
Most last minute five alarm fire situations I witnessed were not necessary. They occurred because some managers and directors are in meetings all day, or schmoozing, and are too busy to alert other managers and staff to upcoming projects. I also witnessed an alarming casuistry regarding terminations at every level. Be ready for a lot of politics and fear working here. Some folks will smile and pretend to help, then gossip to the highest level person they can find when you leave the room. Some facilities/areas are permitted toxic environments to fester.
I did witness good management from some managers, directors, and VPs. They do have a lot of brain power in the company, and a wonderful set of products and staff. Unfortunately, its a toss-up what kind of working environment you will land in.
Great employee discounts, dedicated and diverse staff, a lot of smart people to potentially learn from.
Terrible work/life balance, some superiors isolate staff and insist they not "go around" them as a form of self preservation, rampant office politics, disorganization.
