Program Assistant (Former Employee) – Orange, CA – July 25, 2018
Management is very uneducated and only cover themselves. They will have you do multiple reports and take full credit for all the work. They will alway throw last minute projects to you with the expectations of completed it by Close of business on top of all your other work. Supervisors hired are transfers from other departments with no experience and having the expectations of their employees to educate them on their new roles. Some directors have no college education or degree to hold the positions and will not assist with providing you with the information needed to do your job. Self learned and taught is a must and training your management as you learn.
Benefits, diverse employees
Management is horrible, they don’t care for their employees
Concurrent Review Nurse (Current Employee) – Orange, CA – July 21, 2018
Getting organize , communication including written and orally, learned how to analyze clinical services requests from members and providers based on clinical guidelines consistency and efficient manner. Hardest part would be many call off from nurses making work load double. The most enjoyable has to be the management group and medical directors
Process Excellence Manager (Current Employee) – Orange, CA – May 29, 2018
Caloptima's mission to serve to provide health care coverage for the underserved. Unfortunately, the leaders (lack thereof) are lost and are out for themselves. The organization is run by the legal department.
Not a place for someone who wants to be productive and grow.
Great place to work with amazing benefits including Pension Plan.

The people are what makes CalOptima so special. Not only is the company focused on it's members but also on their employees. Regular Engagement Surveys are sent out to determine employee satisfaction and feedback is acted on. Leadership really cares. There are fun employee events and a true sense of collaboration.
Amazing benefits (pension plan included), flexible scheduling (9/80) and good work/life balance, caring leadership, employee centric environment.
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) – Orange, CA – March 15, 2018
Prepare to answer heavy call volume many of which are angry hostel and verbally abusive callers. Your then told to not take it personal but finding a supervisor to assist with calls are non-existent. Documentation is key and be prepared to be audited continuously. Every minute out of queue is timed even restroom breaks.
Great pay and room for advancement
Tied to your phone, high stress and sitting for 8 hours straight

Program Assistant (Former Employee) – Orange, CA – September 2, 2017
Overall tolerable, good pay (start is $21) and benefits. A lot of nice employees that genuinely care and like what they do but dont get recognized. Management is kinda bad, they can be smug and self consumed. If you don't have a big title (and they LOVE their titles), you are not respected. They will single you and make it obvious you are not the "favorite".
Good pay and benefits
Will only promote within if you know the right people. Management needs MAJOR attiutde adjustment.
