Great people/Great job but no advancement
It's a great place to work but raises are union contracted so no matter how much responsibility you have you cannot make more money. Management really cares about employees.

As a whole, I think CR BOCES does many great things for the community, but their administration building operations (especially in Communications) is as bad at high school with its cliques and cattiness. Like the show "Project Runway," you're either in or you're out and if you're out, don't expect that to ever change. In my five years there, I was never given any real direction as to what my position actually entailed. I worked on a project for well over a year only for it to be handed to someone else with no explanation. The in-fighting and pettiness had me wasting years of time on projects that never came to fruition simply because department/division managers refused to speak to one another. Then that was somehow my fault that my work wasn't completed and I was demoted. The most enjoyable part of the job was being with students and teachers and being as far away from the admin. building as possible. The place is way too management heavy and there are clearly many reductant positions. Why else would there be so much extra time for infighting, set-ups, mind games and other actions that counter a peaceful, productive work environment? Managers regularly go against the wishes of the CEO/upper management to be spiteful and to create gridlock.

Very friendly environment, vacation and sick days, a lot of paid national holidays, team and family oriented, good location, incredible schedule, medical insurance and state retirement .
Network and Systems Technician in Albany, NY

Great benefits. Great co-workers. Excellent and understanding leadership. Sometimes things feel like they move a little slower but it's government. Overall I am very pleased to be working here.
Substance Abuse Assessment Coordinator in Albany, NY

I began at BOCES 15 years ago under a Grant BOCES no longer wanted to continue the grant and did not inform me or my co worker we would no longer have the position...no notice at all.
