No room for advancement
LPN (Former Employee) –  Amsterdam, NYMay 10, 2018
Very poorly run at the time with an unapproachable DON. Things were not organized for residents sake. There were lots of things going on that would not have gone well had state walked in the door.
Pros
6-2 shift
Cons
Poor management

Would never work in a place like this again
Maintenance (Former Employee) –  Amsterdam New YorkMarch 27, 2018
Very unappreciative people to work for, very dirty place to work in, just would not recommend it unless you would like a lot of stress in your life. Very understaffed people there do the minimum they have to not recommended
Cons
When you accumulate vacation time, and leave your job, they take your vacation time away

Don't do it.
LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) (Former Employee) –  FLOAT NURSEFebruary 3, 2018
This facility is about the poorest run, poorest function and poorest staffed facility I've ever worked in. The care is substandard and "profit before people" would be an accurate slogan for them. If you desire to work under indifferent and apathetic 'leadership' and dangerously low staffing, this is for you. 1 nurse and 2 CNAs per 40 high acuity residents is the standard there...
Pros
None
Cons
Dangerous staffing, indifferent management, substandard care, poor work culture, really bad software that leads to delay of treatment with admissions often taking 4 hours or more

Supervisor Housekeeping Purchasing Dept. (Former Employee) –  Amsterdam, NYMarch 16, 2017
busy non- stop, how to do purchasing, accepted everyone, making sure all the staff was there and making sure I had enough merchandise for the residents, working with the elderly.
Pros
seeing smiling faces, friendly atmosphere
Cons
nothing that I can submit

Staffing issues
Licensed Practical Nurse (Current Employee) –  Amsterdam, NYAugust 10, 2015
The staffing has increasingly worsened over the time of my employment with them. A floor of 40 residents will have one nurse and two CNA's most of the time, making it impossible to give the care the residents need and deserve.
Management plays favorites with nursing staff, and rules apply only to certain staff members. No appreciation and/or recognition for long hours worked, coming in on days off and/or staying late. There is no incentive for advancement in the workplace.
Over all I'd say, unfortunately Capstone is not a great place to work and I would advise against it to anyone seeking employment there.
